Forums - Microsoft - Big Call of Duty 4 patch live

Well the limit works fine for my friends and I as we can usually have a nice 8-9 team going like a clan. I personally do not like matches with too many players matches since quite frankly I feel insignificant with usually a very few doing all the work. I am curious to see how insomniac addresses this with resistance of man 2.

Kinda sad that the PC version apparently has a much larger multiplayer cap but the 360 has a much much larger number of sales. Hopefully Frontlines starts a trend with 50 player multiplayer.

Well, it's hardly difficult to find a game on the PC version. I just refreshed the server list and there were 14,762 servers up. 48 of which had 40 players or more (5 of which were more than 50) and this is on a Friday afternoon a 3:50. Servers get much more crowded around 6.

That said, I agree. I hope more console games move towards far larger server caps. Kudos to Resistance 2 for raising the bar to 60. That should be awesome.

coolestguyever: My PC cost $500. Plays CoD4 on max settings.

On what resolution and what are your PC specs.  Becasue even my old shitty computer can play the game and it does not look that bad, it thinks its Pentium D 3ghz or some shit 1gb ram on a x700 ati card.

1440 X 900 resolution (the limit of my monitor). My PC has a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 5000+ Processor, 2GB of RAM, and an nVidia GeForce 8600 GT budget graphics card. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit). My monitor is this. Despite being only 1440 X 900 resolution, it has amazing picture quality thanks to its gloss screen.

Edit: and in case anyone doubts that rig can run CoD4 so easily http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x31/naznatips/SystemReqCOD4-1.jpg

How well does the 8600 stand up against the other cards in your mind, its pretty cheap at about $130 at retail stores comapared to the 8800gt at $270 and the 8800 GTS at 330$.  What was your last card and how much better does this do then that one.  And one last question what kind of FPS are you getting out of the game with max settings or medium settings.

IMO the 8600GT is the best deal I've ever gotten out of a card. I got it on Newegg for $110 ($90 after the rebate) about 8 months ago. Before that I was running a GeForce Go 6600 Laptop card (bought this one with my new comp) which was playing everything up to Bioshock, then I needed a new desktop. So, I built this one, looking to play all the PC games out on good settings on the cheap. Turns out it plays everything, including Bioshock, on Max except for Crysis (plays that on medium-high) so far. I've been very satisfied with it. The card performs far better than I expected it to. Best $90 I ever spent.

Because higher sales make the game so much more fun to play. :P

I'm still trying to decide whether to get this game for PC or not.   I'm afraid I won't play it very often, but it looks so good.

COD4 has a great multiplayer that should keep you playing for a while. Basically the more you play the more stuff you get and unlock. Also the PC version has a cool winter mod for one of the maps. I would highly recommend though I have 360 version so not sure besides the multiplayer limit if there is anything else different.

Unlimited sprint?! Does that get rid of the conditioning perk then?!?

The unlimited sprint only applies to Oldcore. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Oldcore doesn't have perks or you have to pick them up in the game.

O that makes sense then.  It didn't say it applied only to old school so I wasn't sure.  I don't use that perk anyway, just wondering really.
