I think it just comes down to the question of people enjoying heavily story-oriented games. I like them, but I can enjoy them for what they are, while also enjoying games that focus more on uninhibited continuous gameplay.
It's good that so many different kinds of games exist. But people should realize that with the limitations of development and game power, the more you focus on telling a tight story with storyboarded angles, events, etc, that it will feel perhaps more restrictive to some people. Personally if the story and acting are great (Uncharted, TLOU, etc), then I love it, but I don't rush out to replay those either.
The polar opposite is something with very thin story, but lots of freedom (Skyrim, Destiny, etc). Small sections are somewhat on rails due to tutorial portions or story advancement, but otherwise mostly free roam and pace to do what you want.
It's all a tradeoff. I'm betting that The Order comes up strong with story, and good albeit somewhat restrictive gameplay that is consistently buttressed by story portions. And that's exactly what the intent is, and given the positive reception to TLOU, Uncharted, etc, I think it will do well. But when I feel like shooting things up, do I load up Uncharted? No.
Every genre has its place, we can't force or expect every game to appeal to everyone. I hate subscription-based MMOs (well, pretty much all MMOs honestly), but do I go into every thread, or really any thread about them and start trolling how bad they look to me personally? Nope.
