Forums - Sony Discussion - The Order: 1886: Sony's Soulless Answer to Gears of War - IB Times

I am new here but is the moderation here this lax? This thread is a hot mess. Non P's fans were quick to jump in and blatantly troll and the mods allow it? Wow. Ruins any discussion. The one guy who got banned was not near as bad as numerous other posts.

Also judging an entire game based off 1 sequence is laughably desperate to paint it in a bad light.

Well, some trolling comments get moderated, some get a free pass.

It usually depends on whether or not the mod agrees with the comment. -___-

These idiotic "journalists" keep previewing the game using the same demo that has been out for a long time and is likely not a good representation of the game anymore. We know it was disappointing and the game needed improvements back then. It's been months now, let it go.

They certainly love an easy target. Beating a dead horse into further oblivion.

Ohh you,re right so he should've write a review on the newer demo provided by R@D right? They review what they are given and it's R@D's job to provide a proper demo. How do you expect so called journalists to write great previews if what they are given is lackluster.

It's always funny how an exclusive TPS is always an "answer to GeoW".

Playstation's answer to this IP is Uncharted.
The Order 1886 is just the first AAA game from RaD, and they always said they wanted to focus on the story, and not so much on the gameplay.

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

People shouldn't put such an emphasis on RAD's track record on Metacritic, they were basically creating nothing in those games and relying on other developers IP's and gameplay.

The Order had me extremely interested at first but the more you see of it the more it seems like a pretty generic TPS, which is right in GoW's wheelhouse and is just one more thing they can have in common.

A report buttons exists you know.. If you think that a post is worthy of being moderated, then just report it. It's not that hard.

Journalists always do that crap.  "Dark Cloud is the Zelda Killer", "Legend of the Dragoon is the Final Fantasy Killer", "Killzone is the Halo Killer", "Forza is the Gran Turismo killer", etc.  It wouldn't surprise me if PSAS was called a "SSB killer".  It's just something they say to stir up controversy.  I roll my eyes every time I see the term.  In all honesty, I don't think any "Killer" has ever killed whatever it was supposed to kill.

I think it just comes down to the question of people enjoying heavily story-oriented games. I like them, but I can enjoy them for what they are, while also enjoying games that focus more on uninhibited continuous gameplay.

It's good that so many different kinds of games exist. But people should realize that with the limitations of development and game power, the more you focus on telling a tight story with storyboarded angles, events, etc, that it will feel perhaps more restrictive to some people. Personally if the story and acting are great (Uncharted, TLOU, etc), then I love it, but I don't rush out to replay those either.

The polar opposite is something with very thin story, but lots of freedom (Skyrim, Destiny, etc). Small sections are somewhat on rails due to tutorial portions or story advancement, but otherwise mostly free roam and pace to do what you want.

It's all a tradeoff. I'm betting that The Order comes up strong with story, and good albeit somewhat restrictive gameplay that is consistently buttressed by story portions. And that's exactly what the intent is, and given the positive reception to TLOU, Uncharted, etc, I think it will do well. But when I feel like shooting things up, do I load up Uncharted? No.

Every genre has its place, we can't force or expect every game to appeal to everyone. I hate subscription-based MMOs (well, pretty much all MMOs honestly), but do I go into every thread, or really any thread about them and start trolling how bad they look to me personally? Nope.

Doenst all this bad press make you want it more!
