Forums - Gaming - My monitor died today...

Well, as the title says one of my monitors decided to die today, so almost instantly i went out to buy another one at my work, and i picked up this:

It is the Samsung 226BW, it is a 22" panel, i brought this for AU $350, it is usually around 400 - 420 bucks, i got the discount because i work there.

I must say, i am very impressed with this monitor, the pictures are fantastic, vibrant and un-matched in performance, i played COD4, Crysis on this and it looked absolutely stunning, the detail was incredible.

Here are the specs that really make it a top monitor for various monitors

If you were wondering, YES it is a HDCP monitor.

I also hooked up my ps3 and my xbox 360 on it to see how it handles it, and i must say... i was amazed, the picture was absolutely, i had it running at 720p no worries, the option was there for 1080p, but i didnt think it would.

With the PS3 and the 360, usually there is no ghosting at all, if there is it is not noticeable, which makes it an awesome choice if you want to use it as a primary screen for your consoles.

I hooked the consoles up with DVI/HDMI

If you guys are wondering how i did it, i will post a guide.

That's a fine monitor there! The only thing I don't like with Samsung is lighting/brightness, its almost impossible to see anything in daylight or if you have another lightsource facing you.

My Computer room has only a window which i have the blinds always closed, so its not that bad. :D

I wonder if that 3000:1 contrast is static or dynamic.

You shouldn't have ghosting with any monitor with a 4ms response time or lower. Even with a 5ms monitor, ghosting is damn near impossible to notice.

How does your monitor handle 720p? Does it stretch the image to 16x10, or does it use a fixed aspect ratio, putting black bars at the top and bottom?

I'll be joining you soon. My monitor is showing signs of failure. Dead pixels and sometimes the screen doesn't light up.. Good thing it was just given to me. :C
