Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why isn't samus in a mario kart game?

RolStoppable said:

Samus doesn't belong into Mario Kart. It just doesn't make sense. Why would she use shells and banana peels? She would be totally misplaced in Mario Kart. She would be the only character/thing from the Metroid universe. Or should there be a Zebes course and a super missile item? It would feel just weird.

Super Smash Bros. works because characters, items and stages from a lot of different franchises come together, so everything is represented by several characters/things of its universe.

Or simply put: Mario Kart started as spinoff of Super Mario with everything taken from Mario games into a racing game, the sequels were expanding this basic formula. Super Smash Bros. always was a battle of Nintendo's franchises and logically, the sequels were expanding this basic formula.

Thank You I think your answer is the best yet. Instead posting multiple posts of FAIL you use  a logical explanation rather than say " Only Mario Characters Belon in Mario Kart" and not counteracting with the faults I found in that theory. You win in the thread that is made up of fail.

A) ROB is more of a general Nintendo character...he basically can only make cameos, he's not really a franchise character.

B) DK has been in Mario games for a long time...DK is his own franchise just as Yoshi is his own...aka, still related to Mario, even with the separate games.

C) Samus has NO relation to Mario, at least ROB is a "general" Nintendo character. And she would not make a good cameo character. Nobody minds if ROB makes a cameo appearance. But if Samus does? She has no place with Mario characters,
1) Mario fans probably would not like the crossover in a Mario game.
2) Fans of games like Zelda, Star Fox, F-Zero, whatever would be pissed that their favorites didn't make an appearance.

I think you win too. Except for the part where you said diddy kong was in mario games.

Have you played the arcade Mario Kart games? They don't feel right. You can just tell instantly by playing them, that they were 100% Namco. They ran on the Triforce arcade board, made by Nintendo, Namco, and Sega, but Nintendo completely licensed the Mario Kart intellectual property to Namco for the game. They did the same thing with Star Fox Assault on the GC (it started as an arcade game on the Trifroce arcade board, but they got too deep and decided it was a full console game instead), and that game sucked too.

If you've played every Mario Kart, you'd disown the arcade ones, and if you played every Star Fox, you'd disown Assault and that Adventures crap. Fuckin' Namco!

(Disclaimer: Namco, I love you, thanks for Pac-Man and Katamari.)

Nintendo and Namco have been in bed with each other since back before they put Link in Soulcalibur 2. But that doesn't mean Link is actually in the Soulcalibur universe and timeline for good now. It was a joke cameo thing for one game. Just like Darth Vader and Yoda in the next game. And Samus and Link aren't in the Mario universe due to their crummy cameos that Square made.

This is all like when Marvel and DC comics make their stupid cross-overs. It's in some parallel universe that doesn't affect anything real, like the fact that Samus ain't belong in no Mario Karts!

sc98454, we didn't argue, because it's incredibly obvious and intuitive. You pretty much seemed like a lost cause.

In mario cart for the DS is there not a robot of some sort as a playable character, what mario game did he appear in.

If they win...........

"Back off, man. I'm a scientist."

Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor scientist. Especially if you think the moon landing was faked.

 That is R.O.B.

They win because they took in consideration the exceptions but by saying that it started out as all mario characters they don't conflict with the four exceptions. They also tell me another reason why samus wouldn't be in the game. She doesn't fit.

Searching...

cannot find a Diddy reference in my post, sorry.

Unless you assumed I meant DK as Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong together, which I didn't.

I do think Diddy's fine though, since he's basically Donkey Kong Jr.'s replacement, and it's nice to have the big DK as well as a young, lightweight version, like Bowser and Jr, Mario and Baby Mario, etc.

And Griffin, that's ROB the robot, and we explained that.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Which is obvious to anybody without a sub-functional common sense meter.

EDIT: Okay, sorry if I'm coming off sarcastic and bitter. I don't mean it maliciously, more for the sake of amusing myself.
