Forums - Gaming - What Final Fantasy has the best Limit Breaks?

Limit Break, of course being the term featured in Final Fantasy VII, which is also used to describe it's successive series 'super moves' such as Trance from Final Fantasy IX for example.

I for one think that Final Fantasy VIII has the worst ones, (Trigger?) and Final Fantasy X had the best ones (Overdrive?- I don't remember what they were called)

Trane from Final Fantasy IX were pretty boring too, though the worst thing of Trance was when the bar reached Max you had to use it there and then, though, you could use a move a few times, not just once, the term Trance in the game meant "When you overcome with powerful emotions" which I guess in some sense it works seeing as once the battle is completed your character in 'reality' wouldn't be so stressed anymore. (Think Dragon Ball Z Super Saiyan)

What are your favourite 'Limit Breaks'? And from what series?

The most powerful in any Final Fantasy to date is Wakka's "Attack Reels", it's far more powerful then any amount of 'chains' you connect in Final Fantasy XII.

I've always hated limit-breaks, it means you are on the verge of death, and your last 2 hours of gameplay (because you are too stupid to save it) is going to go to waste.

In terms of cool ass looking....FF 8 all the way.. worst would be FF 9. 10 Was ok.

Also the attack reels were not that powerful...chains could technically go on forever. Also lion heart by Squall kicked so much ass its not even funny.

Overall my favorite is easily FF 8 and its why i always kept them near death so i could use it over and over



Owner of all consoles cept DS.....Currently in love with prototype!

The ones in VIII were great as they were just so powerful and they could be initiated with Aura spells :D

The ones in X were also great, not as good as lionhart etc though :P

You realize that Max STR and LUCK with attack reels could do 12 x 99,999?

That's; 1,199,988 damage total damage.

There is nothing that powerful in any Final Fantasy ever, and chains can't go forever, it's impossible to go past 28, plus there's no break damage past 99,999 like in any Final Fantasy (except FFX with the Anima trick) and no successive numbers after the intial built up blow, making attack reels 12 times stronger then the best 'Chain' you can ever pull off.

But to get those you had to either cheat or do the stupid Blitzball thing, man i hated that game!

Give me the cards in FFVIII anyday :D



Cheat? It's not that hard, it just takes a heck of a lot of time, Blitzball becomes blindfoldingly easy after a while too.

I liked the strategy with the ones in 12. They were visually impressive also which comes in handy since you're repeating the same animations over and over. Then again I'm probably a bit biased because I don't hate the game to begin with.

Me! Because I have the PAL version of FFX, which has about 13 side quest boss's the US version doesn't, one of which has 120,000,000 hp.
