its not piracy its spare and the amount of money i spend on microsoft products you wouldnt believe

it is piracy because you are asking for someone elses code... Last I checkd 1 code came with one disc..No extras. It doesn't matter how much you spend on it. If you have a code for 8 then install 8, what you are doing is asking for someone elses legit code(in the wrong section btw wtf does this have to do with gaming?)..which is piracy... not that it would likely even work since many times the codes are locked to the disc..ya know to prevent piracy.

Doesn't matter its still piracy..also there are no spare keys..1 key thats it. That single key allows you to install on a few machines in the same household but there are no extra keys.

bios arn't installed on the HDD. load a HDD with the correct version.

The serial key has to match the disc. After that, it has to pass activation.

A student copy is a good idea if you know someone who can get/sell you one for cheap, otherwise retail is 85 pounds on amazon.

If you ask me though, I wouldn't install Win8 for free unless I had a Surface. Though I understand if she already had it.

so the correct version of windows i think she had 8 home edition

i work for myself and i buy open licenses 50 at a time but i recently bought 8
so waiting to get my cash flow going to buy 50 8.1, and when i said spare i meant you have one that you aint using that is still spare and not piracy bro

if it's the correct version it shouldn't ask you to to enter the p key. you could also try coping the recovey partion from faulty hdd and just run a factory recovrey from start up.
