It's interesting to me that PC sales look so healthy (dominant even) on these charts while they look so anemic on NA charts that people have to cast about looking for explanations like online distribution or piracy.

Looks like PC gaming is owning the swedish market...for now :)

Most sold divided into genres etc at http://www.dataspelsbranschen.se/ite...pen%202007.pdf

Interestingly the Swedish software market is three times bigger than the Finnish market, despite having less than twice the population: $370m V $120m & 7.7m V 2.4m games, 9.2m V 5.3m population.

Together the Swedish & Finnish software market is worth around $500m with 10m games sold.

Does anyone know if any 2007 data was released for Denmark and Norway? I'd like to see how Scandinavia as a whole compares to other major European countries.

Norway had a 18% increase in 2007. Revenue of _games sold to retailers_ was around 600 million NOK ($115 mill).

Around 60,000 PS3 and 60,000 Wii was sold to retailers by the end of the year. Microsoft Norway wont release their numbers. 600,000 PS2 have been sold. That is almost one in every third home.

Yes, I've found the Norwegian data, but not software unit data, just value. The hardware data is only up to November, so with December being the biggest month of the year will actually be substantially higher.

Norwegian Software 2007 (Value):

PS2: NOK 185m (31.2%)
PC: NOK 138m (23.3%)
PS3: NOK 78m (13.1%)
NDS: NOK 69m (11.6%)
360: NOK 56m (9.5%)
WII: NOK 52m (8.8%)
PSP: NOK 11m (1.9%)
GBA: NOK 2m (0.4%)
DVD: NOK 1.5m (0.25%)
GCB: NOK 0.3m (0%)
XBX: NOK 0.1m (0%)

Total: NOK 594m ($114m)

Hardware Units 2007 (30/11/07)

NDS: 68,447
PS3: 57,196
WII: 50,074
PS2: 46,637
PSP: 21,769
GBA: 701

Hardware LTD (30/11/07):

PS2: 595,829
PS1: 341,862
GBA: 187,390

NDS: 125,589

PS3: 57,196

So we can't compare by software units, but we can by value.

Sweden: $373m (Pop. 9.2m)
Finland: $123m (Pop. 5.3m)
Norway: $114m (Pop. 4.7m)

Total: $610m (Pop. 19.2m)

It would be tempting to assume Norwegian software units would be similar to Finland, but I would expect software is more expensive in Norway, so Norwegian units might be quite a bit lower than the value suggests.

Still need Danish 2007 figures for a full Scandinavian analysis.

Hey, very nice find BKK2, you´re the man. :D

One Question, what´s GCB?

Game Boy Color?
