Nah, I liked the DS a lot more.  Mario Kart DS and Picross were two of my favorite games of the entire 7th gen. And the DS Lite model specifically was just fantastic.

Having said that, the 3DS does have some excellent quality software - and Zelda: ALBW makes mincemeat out of the DS Zelda games, which are my least favorite entries in the series.

To me, the quality is just much better.

I never really got into the DS though, and it was plagued with the Wii Problem as well of having too much casual shovel ware on it.

Week after week the games keep coming now for the 3DS that are huge or big games. Maybe not in the West, but the games are still there and the 3DS eshop is killer!

Agree or no?

The DS was better because the software lineup was stronger imo. I also believe the GBA was better than both for the same reason. Software is what defines a handheld or console as far as I'm concerned... not the console.

I never disagreed with the quantity of quality games. I had a post here somewhere stating that the DS had better games than 3DS. But only reason why that's so is because DS has been out for almost a good 7 years (November 21, 2004 Release Date) while the 3DS has been out only 3 1/2 years (March 27, 2011 Release Date). It completely not fair to compare a console that's had a ton of time for games to come out for it versus a relatively young console that we probably haven't even seen the best of.

Plus, you can't play all those games I've mentioned on a standard DS. Some of them need the DSi in order to work.

Give the 3DS an extra 3 1/2 years, your telling me NDS will still have a better library than the 3ds if they had the same timeframe to work with?

We are not even mentioning the 3ds streetpass capabilities, the improvements to the DS OS, web browsing, addiction of appz, connection to the Wii U, addiction of the Mii's ETC.

It's like comparing PS3 to PS4. If your gonna judge it solely on games, PS3 would be the better console by a Landslide.

Where in the world did this come from?

You said my arguement has become irrelevant. I just wanted to respond on why DS would be more enjoyable than 3ds for people that had both. Also that I was agreeing that DS had better games too.

Refer back to what I said, and look at the bold.

The 3DS is my favorite console of all time. It's really that good to me.

The funny thing is, to me it seemed like DS had gems coming out at a faster rate than 3DS (though DS was slower to start coming out with some average games.)

3DS honestly is great with great games. The fact that it's slow on sales is just because the position it's in now (time wise this is not a good time in the games industry sales wise) so if the 3DS came out back when the DS did 3DS would be seeing 150+ million in sales.

I have a 3DS actually and had DS. Love them both. Had more DS games because at that time I was a more active gamer. At this point my time is being taken up by, school, work, girlfriend, family etc. so that doesn't leave much time to game unfortunately.

In saying this I hope that in the future I get more time to play some games!

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

Not that I don't like my 3ds but it's been the most underwhelming Nintendo handheld for me ever. DS was a monster and was MUCH better when it came to games. I prefer my Vita to my 3DS. Outside of Code of Princess and Fire Emblem 3ds does very little for me. DS however I have nearly 30 games for and so many RPGs and region free so I could import.

I'm likely to pick up my Game Gear more often than my 3ds

3DS, easily. DS was a better system then the GBA, and the 3DS can play DS games. In addition to DS games, 3DS also has an eShop that blows DSiWare out of the water. The system's significantly improved technical abilities allow for more complex games and a more varied library, not to mention games with superior production values. Also, I honestly have more fun with the 3DS. The system is less concerned with utilizing the touchscreen as a gimmick in various games, and instead uses them naturally. It's got a genuine (and great) 3D Mario platformer, Smash Bros, the best and most user friendly Fire Emblem ever made, graphically updated ports of Star fox 64 and Ocarina of Time instead of lesser, more gimmick focused sequels, it's got Kid Icarus Uprising (the best and most content filled handheld action game I've ever played), it's got the best Pokemon game in a decade, it's got a creative and diverse indie scene that includes games like the Guild series, Steam World among others. It's actually DESIGNED for 3D games and has a great analog stick. It's got graphical abilities an network capabilities that allow it to run genres DS couldn't even dream of, allowing for games like Resident Evil Revelations, Dead or Alive Dimensions, Ace Combat Horizons, Street Fighter 4, and Donkey Kong Country returns. DS couldn't run these games, or at least not NEARLY as well as 3DS can. Not to mention we've also got those great streetpass games and functions, which encourage to bring my DS with me even when I've no intention of playing it.

And this is all on top of near perfect DS backwards compatibility. So yeah, 3DS is better.
