You are completely correct. This is what microsoft had planned, but it got wasted, cause of Warners announcement to go blu-ray |
Uh, no. Entirely rumor.... To my knowledge, nothing ever was presented in the form of real proof that MS had any intentions whatsoever of actually going through with an HD DVD built into a new SKU.
If they are in stock everywhere, fine. It's just my location, then. I did see a couple at a best buy today but none at walmart or target.
I'm wondering if an inbound price cut might be even bigger than the last one. Last time there was only a very small shortage of consoles prior to a $50 price cut.
But if MS were about to make a $80-100 price cut, they would want ALL the old expensive models gone to avoid Sony-like losses.

aint no shortage
in NYC they are everywhere my friend walked right into a bestbuy in brooklyn today and copped one
hell even online you can buy them with overnight shipping no problem
the whole supply shortage is getting to be an old excuse for poor sales.
360 will never bundle with gtaiv
How is it an old excuse? Microsoft concurred with retailers and said that shortages would continue through February?
Given we haven't had the first week of March sales, I'd say the shortages are very current wouldn't you?
A GTAIV bundle wouldn't surprise me, as it really would help them 'own' the launch as they said.

I really don't get this. I don't want to call anyone a liar, but they're in stock at most places online and have been throughout February. Every other shortage we've seen (every console launch, Wii, DS last year, PS2 a few years back, etc.) has been a situation where you're much more likely to grab one in an actual retail store than online. Thinking back to last January's DS shortages, they were readily available at retail stores about two weeks before they started staying in stock online.
This is the complete opposite though if there really are places that are out of stock(local stores here have been fully stocked for about a month). They're everywhere online, but apparently not in some retail stores. That just doesn't add up. There's either some kind of odd distribution issue (which doesn't make much sense since the national chains control their own distribution), or people are just milking the early January shortages to an absurd degree as some kind of excuse.
