Forums - Gaming Discussion - Destiny will get a new version in the summer because of the reviews

When will they release a newer edition?

Winter 2014 2 2.13%

Spring 2015 11 11.70%

Summer 2015 8 8.51%

Autumn 2015 15 15.96%

Even later than above 15 15.96%

Never 43 45.74%

Total:94

The reason why those reviews are so bad is because this game cannot be reviewed by just one person. I like the game very much and I have been having a blast enjoying it but there is no way I am playing this game alone. I have already convince two friends of mine to buy the game (which is how the game will have legs cause playing alone is boring. I aslo only play on Hard mode.

Maybe Bungie is not Valve, originally Half-Live 2 was supposed to be followed by quickly released episodes (I.E. DLC) instead the episodes took forever to come and they were rather meaty, and well, there were only two... now we are left with tons of questions until the next game comes to be

This is just to point out that these ideas are not entirely new and it's not a given that it will turn out as Bungie envisionned it.

As for the reviews delays, I think the only think you could not figure out by yourself until very close to release was how long the story mode was (around 8 - 12 hours) which is not nearly enough for me to give a damn about it... not until I find it half price!... with all the complaining about the review events game journalists get, people should be happy (at least I hope those complaining about review events or review copies being handled to the gaming press in advance are not the same crying wolf because reviews were "held" to hide comething hideous). Anyway, yes, the beta was well received, I wonder why the cold shoulder on metacritics!

I wouldn't be surprised honestly. I don't think there's ever been an "event" game like this to get such mediocre reviews. At this rate it could finish in the 60's on metacritic. That's getting into flat out bad territory.

Final Fantasy XIV..

Anyway we will get Destiny 2 and they will hype it like the game they always wanted Destiny to be..

Pretty much, I almost expect Destiny 2 or Destiny Redux or whatever to be at E3 2015.

Probably a GOTY edition late summer or autumn next year. I don't know if you con't that as a new version or not. I don't see a sequel happening for two or so years though.

When they've sold 7 Million+ copies and everyone has already played it for themselves they give a shit about reviews why?

That's why they didn't let sites review it until after it sold that much. Very sneaky.

Nah. MMOs should not be reviewed with empty servers

I am enjoying the game very much myself right now...but this is not Warcraft.  I do not see hundreds of players in the first patrol zone, it is pretty much a barren and desolate zone (I have ran into a handful of other players in the hours I have spent grinding this area).  This game is very single player (with the exception of the Multiplayer matchmaking like any other FPS released with a campaign).  Bungie could have sent review copies and sites could have posted their initial thoughts on the large portion of the game that could be played solo (like any FPS Shooter), and could have added the caveat of late game raids (you can only have 3-6 on these raids anyways, just send IGN 6 copies so they can put a raid together and play this content for the review) and pvp matchmaking.

Why should they when Destiny has already sold so much? What does Activi$ion care?

The only reason would be: More money 💵 💵 💵

Modern Warfare was a masterpiece, like MW2, which Caused all the future installments to sell amazing.

The damned, mighty dollar

I was always under the impression that Destiny would be a game that was updated as time went by. I expect the level cap to be increased to 30 by next year, new quests and events, plus DLC. They've designed it as an MMO so they'll have to keep improving the game if they want to maintain revenue.

It'll get another version released, but I doubt because of reviews. I'll buy the ultimate edition with all the DLC and such.

Overall Destiny is a great game but is far from epic, so many missed opportunity's that was going to make it epic, for example that damn spaceship, why in hell I want to spend lots money to buy a new spaceship I won't be able to pilot ?, image if we where able to go planet to planet on our own, landing taking off, and while traveling you can encounter destroyed huge spaceships to explore(side quests), or enter huge battles with other players on space. :(
