Myth 1: Tablets are killing handheld gaming

My theory: 3DS is selling neary as well as the GBA  so handheld gaming isn't dying. PSVita isn't selling because it was a bad idea to have console ports on handheld. DS only sold huge numbers because most people owned at least two of them. Tablets only expanded the market.

Myth 2: Tablets will kill console gaming.

My theory: Tablets actually help console gaming. More developers are being created that can bring their games to consoles in the long run. Tablets and consoles can co-exist together because theyre not competing. If this gen of consoles doesn't sell as well as 7th gen it's Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft's fault for not appealing to more people

I kind of agree but I do think that in the long term tablets will replace handhelds in greater numbers doing damage to both handheld market and consoles. Basically a case of where developers see their revenue coming from. Hopefully most aren't myopic enough to realise that mobile/tablet only offer short term successes.

Tablets didn't hurt anything............yet! I have a feeling that tablets will affect handhelds later in the future.... :S
