Forums - Gaming - The Playstation 4 Advantage. Can Gamers Tell The Difference Between 720p and 1080p?

I havent been able to watch unaltered content that wasnt upscaled in many ages. I suppose I do notice the difference between 270p and 720 on youtube. People didnt buy into the Blu Ray movement because they clarity jump from upscaled 1080p(available on most DVD players)-real 1080 wasnt enough for the average person to notice. People will not buy into this now.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I am xbox gamer and this post is silly. I can tell a difference between 720p and 1080p... Clearly. Does resolution make the graphics better? NO. The PS4 *IS* more powerful. #dealwithit

Do I care though? NO. If I did my gaming PC would see a lot more use as it is a lot more powerful than ANY console.

they can if u give them side by side comparison or screenshots,

the cant, if they have to do it without and in real time movement.

if they know one has lower and one has a better Resolution, they can tell u witch one Looks better
but if u show them random footage without any hints, they cant tell u for sure "this is 720p, this is 900p, this is 1080p, this is 1080i" etc...

but this discussion is obsolet. because we know the Resolution of the game, even before we Play it.

I can tell the difference from 720 to 1080p and from 30 to 60 fps...easily. As most gamers.

Xbox fans: There is no difference, or not enough that people can tell.

Most everyone else: The difference is there and quite noticeable.

False. When I bought MK8 I thought it was 1080p because everybody was saying so...and I noticed in a few seconds that it was actually 720p, probably because I was used to PS4 already. Same thing goes for Wind Waker HD. Everybody was saying how great the game looked, 1080p and 60fps...but it was obvious from the beginning (at least to me) that the game actually ran at 30fps. But it probably depends on personal sensitivity.

The difference between 720p and 1080p is huge. 900p upscaled to 1080p and native 1080p though...not sure. It'd probably be much tougher di discern the difference in that case.

You dont need to see the difference between 720p and 1080p because there is no game with 1080p on PS4 which is 720p on One. It would be correct to ask ppl if they see a difference between 900p and 1080p....and there I doubt it...because so many factor need to be considered like all the zillion settings on each TV (like sharpness and so on)....so the chance every image looks different is really high.

Obviously they thought they can, why else the horrible sharpening filter in the upscaler to fake more detail. MS gambled that most games wouldn't reach 1080p and that they would have the image advantage side by side with contrast boost, gamma adjustment and artificial sharpening in their upscaler.
Seems people could clearly tell the fake 1080p from actual 1080p and MS had to remove the sharpening filter after facing backlash.

That's not true though, MGS V: Ground Zeroes is 720p on Xbox One and 1080p on PS4.

So its all a conspiracy of evil MS right now? The hate of evil evil evil MS is absurd. Seriously.
