Well said and preach on. I pity those that cannot look past their own bias and enjoy games for the sake of games. Instead they get too tribal and act like two rowdy dogs in two separate and fenced in back yards. Howling for the sake of making noise, kicking up dirt and pissing everywhere. It is truly astonishing how some people delude themselves. I don't know if it is pride, vanity, some form of mental illness, or bad reaction to a drug/medication. Perhaps it is a combination of all the above.

I honestly think we should simply stop calling people who do such,( and are so blinded by bias that they take pride in embedding themselves so deeply in one single camp) gamers. Imo they are not gamers really. A real gamer may have bias for one piece of hardware or game for pragmatic/practical/stylistic/taste reasons but they love and appreciate all platforms and games because that's where a real gamers loyalty lies. With games and developers. These people that spend so much time arguing on the internet, attacking the "other", and deluding themselves to reality and facts, no they are not gamers, their loyalty is to a single console and everyone else can be damned. These are not gamers imo they are console warriors and the console war is the only game they truly enjoy.

Great job captain obvious.

I own only one gaming console (for now). This is not cause I have any personal vendetta against everyone else, for me its all about value for money. I can't justify owning more than one console and lack the time to play all the best games every platform has to offer. So I have to "choose" what I am going to have to settle for.

Personally, I think the whole true gamers have every console thing to be silly. Thats just me though.

Of course not.

You don't have to own everything to reach enlightenment, you just have to realize the benefits of all the platforms and see that as worth more then there petty differences. This holds true for both the platforms and their fanbases. That is what it means to be a true gamer. However, without experiencing all the platforms you are still missing out, but not because your holding yourself back. An Ubermensh but not yet immortal.

Whenever someone says something like X is better than Y, i just laugh because they are both letters.

TLDR version:

Fanboys are Fanboys no matter what the platform.

Owning a single platform limits one diversity in genre + experiences.

Combos are great. (Wii U+PC myself and love it)

All is godly (but costly).

/World Peace via having a lot of moolah

Thanks for this :)

I think they are pretty distinguishable..
Sony Ponies love movies
M$ Drones loves dudebro shooters
Nintoddlers loves their baby games
Master Race spends $400,000,000 on their rigs and only play Mobas
Op, you look too far into things!
But owning all systems is the best way to go

Hmmm, you make some good points. But I can't agree. Some fanbases are better than others, and some are worse than others...

You can't neccessarily prove that.  The moment you say that one fanbase is better or worse than the other, you'll deem yourself as a fanboy of that said platform....in the eyes of the gaming society. There have been folks that would say Nintendo is the least of them, but that's not true. They are just as bad as the others. I think all fanbases have their goods and bads. Every single one of them isn't above the other. Some extremist of any platform holder are so annoying it gives a bad name to that said platform. You ever hear those phrases, "I will never own a PlayStation/Xbox because of their stupid fanboys?" It's just how it is now. I'm in the "own all consoles" category. I just don't want to miss anything from anyone. It's downright crazy to be loyal to just one console.

Sony fans number in the multitude. After the collective failures of the PS3 and PS Vita, the PS4 led to a resurgence of popular support both from the media and the internet at large. Those that survived the PS3 era were now stronger than ever, basking in the light of the reclaimed crown. Unfortunately, this new found affluence has gone largely to waste as many fans are still very defensive and adamantly supports nearly everything Sony does. While Sony has for the most part played their part as a benevolent ruler, their are still many things that are being overlooked both by Sony and its fans. Its of grave dissapointment that they are becoming the consoles version of the PC master race, blinded by fidelity, missing the obvious advantages of ascendence.

Is this what you wrote or did you get this from a site?  Because I'm a Sony fan and the bolded is basically what I pointed out only to receive retaliation from you many, many times.

Nintendo fans are the smallest and strangest fanbase. A generation of winning consoles and a persistent dominance of Handhelds, have led them to become the most devout of any of the groups, but only slightly. Criticism of Nintendo is rare, and if it occurs even if jokingly, the perpertrator is immeadeatly branded as a "Nintendo Hater". Combined with Nintendo's performance with hardware and software, and it leads to a defense of the most strangest of actions, only superceded momentarily by the defenders of the XB1's original policies. They have the highest degree of purists, Nintendo or die, but they show the most promise of ascension, due to being the most in flux with their relations of PC, Sony, and MS, although this seems to be changing as of the power change from Nintendo to Sony, in the console arena. Not to mention, some fans are so obssessed with the crown that they often arbitarily make qualifications to paint Nintendo in a better light such as inflationary percentages such as 600% or Wii U is #1 (in Japan), deliberatly ignoring that other consoles with a 1 year lead had extemely large gaps, but then hypocritically villanize the opponents for doing the same. If it wasn't for the obssession with leading the industry and their quickness to become hostile to their own fans, perhaps they could become enlightened as well.

Did you really just say criticism on Nintendo is rare? Really you can't go on the internet today without hearing how Nintendo is tanking, the WII U failure, how they should drop out of making consoles and make games for their rivals, how they should go into mobile games, how no third parties wants to work with them, also the sigma that Sony and Microsoft fanboys describe them as "kiddie gamers". Nintendo right now has a "KICK ME"sign superglued to its back .

I think they all have the same kind of negative potential, honestly, it's just that direct factors play a big role in how fanboys behave online.

For instance, in my experience, the worst fanboys I've encountered, in chronological order, were:

Original Xbox - This was when the internet was starting to get hype and some of the Xbox guys were people who typed like this--"l0l Xb0x pWnz j00 l0l H4L0 gr4phx r teh sHiZZZZ".  I was on AOL back then and those guys were so bloody annoying.  It was like the 'l33t' console option back then, kind of a PC jr. thing.

Early PS3 appologists - Some of these guys would get mad and pure RANT if you said, "no way, that's too expensive".  Nothing like someone saying, "IT'S WORTH IT DUMBASS!!!!," to bring things to annoying levels.

The Wii inferiority complex people - I didn't get a new console at the start of last gen.  I was playing exclusively on PC and quite content with games like WoW and Ragnarok Online.  I read what other people were saying online about the consoles but I wasn't really paying attention.  After I quit WoW, though, I remember watching E3 and catching the fever.  I remember saying in one gaming chat-room that I hadn't seen much from the Wii that interested me.  Oh dear god, it was like I had pushed the RAGE button.  LISTS SPROUTED OUT OF NOWHERE.  I had stumbled into a minefield where apparantly many, many battles had already been fought.  I'm also going to hook Nintendo third-party conspiracy nuts to this, since this is where it started.

So I think context has a lot to do with making fanboys behave really badly.  Being forced into a defensive position, especially, appears to bring out the worst.

Are you sure? That's what I have been saying many time over.

CIP, when I critisized Drive Club PS+ edition I was called Anti-Sony.

When I called for MP3 and theme support, it was dismissed saying it either wasn't important or that Sony never said that. I don't recall ever supporting the overdefensiveness of those on any platform let alone Sony's.

Give an example so I can redact that error, If I made it but I don't recall any posts directed at you are in general critiszing the argument that Sony and its fans are overlooking somethings.
