Forums - Nintendo - "New 3DS" titles in 2D on "old" 3DS/XL... would that be a good option?

The 3DS needs only 50 - 60% of the full processing power and RAM when switching to 2D. So probably the CPU and RAM of the old models would be enough for "new 3DS games", if they only allowed 2D on the old models.

Since many people don't even care about the 3D effect (I personally love it!)... would this be a good compromise to get these games playable on the older models? It's no ideal solution... the battery drain in 2D would probably be as high than normal 3DS games in 3D... but better than nothing.

now you will adore it;) you learned how much has been enhanced :P! i m very startled,i wasnt using it,but in the new handhelds i will!

If running these games in 2D only was possible on 3DS Im almost certain they would have just done so and then given them the better with Kinect or DSi enhanced type thing rather than making a New 3DS for them.

Because Nintendo always makes the best choices, right? Never question the decisions of almighty Big N!

Reminds me of marketing lies like

  • "they can't just flip a switch and turn off alway online" (Xbox One DRM)
  • It wouldn't be possible to make the game offline without a significant amount of engineering work by our team. (Sim City)
  • A Kinect-less Xbox One is not in our plans at all, it is an integral part of the system (optional Kinect)

With the new models, they want to revitalize the 3DS sales. Making Xenoblade 3d exclusive for the new models doesn't proof that it isn't possible to run the game on the old models with restrictions (only 2D for selected games).

Well... it depends on a few things... One, how much more powerful is the new 3ds compared to the old one and two, would the games use the extra inputs cause if they do, then u cant really use the old 3ds cause it doesn't have enough inputs.

But yea, when it comes out, we will see
