It's to prevent abuse, and I'm assuming this guy accumulated 15k quickly from an exploit or something. If he did, he deserves it. But as I said before he may have delete his account on his 3DS on accident without realizing it deletes his Wii U account too (A feature I wish they remove from 3DS)
