Here is why they will not catch. Let's be honest, the Xbox 360 was successful since the PS3 messed up the launch and their online experience was horrible.  Xbox 360 sold millions of consoles mainly because of COD, Halo, and Gears.  Once Sony adjusted the price point and devs learned how to utilize the power of the PS3, this when they began to catch up.  Sony began to put games that put the Xbox to shame.  Here is the main problem.  Microsoft is not innovative with games.  They just pull out the checkbook and buy whatever they need.  You can only ride Halo, Gears, and COD for so long.  These are all shooters.  There is no variety with their games.  The competition with shooters is fierce now. What other games besides those games is Microsoft known for?  Sony is innovative in gaming and they have a much better reputation.  They make games from the ground up and thats why indies are so important to them.  Halo is not the same as it was last gen.  It's old and tired.  Look at what is happening to COD.  COD is dead dude.  Halo is not dead soon but it doesn't have that it factor anymore.  The same for Gears.  There has not been a game since that has defined Microsoft.  They tried with Titanfall but it was a huge fail.  They expected it to sell systems like Halo and it failed.  The new IP reasoning is just a excuse.  Also image is everything.  Most of Microsoft products are trash.  Internet explorer.  TRASH.  Windows phones and tablets.  TRASH.  Windows.  TRASH.  Nobody wants to buy that garbage.  Apple and Google are dominating in these areas.  The decline in the popularity with Microsoft is affecting the Xbox One.  Now that Sony has leveled the playing field, its impossible for Microsoft to catch up unless they start making some quality games that sell systems.  Halo 6, 7, and 8 aint going to help.

Latest version of the xb1 will outsell the ps4 when x game(s) is released... Then it will run multiplatform better too?

This theory is false and has no basis in reality. The ps3 continued to launch big games right up til ps4 launch. The 360 hasn't had a big game since halo 4. Not to mention a third of ps4 owners had a 360 last gen, meaning a lot of 360 players are not only getting next gen consoles, but jumping ship.
