Pillars of Eternity is an isometric fantasy RPG from Obsidian Entertainment that intends to capture the feeling and gameplay of older RPGs like Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate. Based upon an entirely original IP, Pillars of Eternity was one of Kickstarter's big video game success stories, earning about $4 million in funding.
Gameplay is party-based with battles taking place in a pausable, realtime tactical format. Customization will be important with physical appearahce up to the player, along with race, class (there are 11), traits, culture, and skills all open choice. Up to five companions can also join the player on the adventure, which takes place in a world where a supernatural event has taken place, triggering conflict and problems.
