Forums - Nintendo - How is Darksiders 2 for the Wii U?

The best way to put it is that it's a melding pot of different games. It's like an open world, platformer, hack-n-slash, RPG...ish. It's Zelda-Prince of Persia-God of War-and any WRPG. That sounds awesome, but it's not as good any any of them. It's Zelda, but less the world is less interesting. It's Prince of Persia, but less precise. It's God of War, but less epic. It's still good, but no where near the some of it's parts.

There's some framerate issues on the Wii U, but nothing gamebreaking.

As for the game itself, it bites off more than it can chew. The game runs out of inventive ideas a little under halfway through and meanders about for the last 8 or so hours by throwing up lots of arbitrary barriers to completing objectives. By the time you're done with it, you'll probably dread the phrase "find me 3 of something to progress" more than just about anything else.

The end of the first one is epic.

The games are just above the average, but if you like the genre, it will be really enjoyable.

It rocks!! I mean its to too late to show 3rd party support, but if you play Wii U most right now pick it up. I have it and it is great!

I could talk hours and hours on end, on why this is a great game, but nah, don't feel like doing so now. :P Overall I can recommend the game, it's solidly built. A few frame rate drops here and there and it might freeze on you once, but that can be overlooked imo.

Love it. Definitely check it out, it's worth it, even if it's a cumulation of features/parts from other games.

This.

To me it is very much a continuation of "Zelda - E3 Tech Demo".

Every time I try to say that it IS "Zelda" purists come with a lot of arguments that it is not. To me it is a "dark", "mature", "gritty", "realistic", Zelda.

There are no "funny" side quests, no fishing, no quirkiness. Dungeons are very much Zelda, with "puzzles" that requires "Prince of Persia" wall-running. There are RPG elements in how you level up your gear and abilities. There is freedom as you can encounter bosses that are way above your current level, but you can still fight them. The NPCs are as stupid as ordinary Zelda NPCs: they stand around waiting for the "hero" to do all the work.

There may still be life in this franchise: http://www.gengame.net/2014/07/nordic-games-talks-about-the-future-of-darksiders-and-red-faction/

The user reviews are very good even the one that gives it a score of 6: http://www.metacritic.com/game/wii-u/darksiders-ii

DF analysis actually showed Darksiders II to have generally locked 30 fps for all versions -- 360 funny performed the worst of all versions

DLC for the game is already available for free on disk

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I'd recommend, like most others have said it's perfectly decent but not all that different from the PS3/360 version. You can (and should) skip the first which came across as a little too generic to me; there's a summary at the beginning and the story of the first game isn't complex enough or referenced enough to matter. I'd say it's like Zelda, Tomb Raider and Diablo where put in a blender and this came out. Good thing is the Wii U version comes with all the DLC, so that's nice.

This topic has gotten me more interested in the game. Saw it in a store yesterday but it was at full price so I'll keep looking for a decent price.

Btw who owns the rights to the game now that THQ is bankrupt?

Yep.
