Forums - Sales - Will the PS4 top the Wii U in Japan this week?

Not until a decent japanese game releases.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

doubt it, both games are available on PS3

Big games in west, not so big in Japan. It might outsell WiiU this week but the numbers won't be anything to brag about anyway.

But will probably sell better on PS4. Plus isn't Tlou technically a better version of the game on the PS4? Directors cut, remastered, the real vision of the game?

The games/skus yes but in terms of pushing HW no

No.

I wish. But I doubt it.

Those two games didn't chart on COMG.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

Games like yakuza or dynasty warriors will push ps4, not these western games.

Those games did not made it into the top 20 pre orders list;.based on that those games COULD do less than 10k...

Microsoft skipping TGS and Sony not really trying is a clear indication of how they about Japan. The console market there is nearing obsoletion. Why champion sales where your highest console sells 18k on a holiday week? As for the topic at hand, the PS4 most likely won't but the PS4 baseline will rise/level out as big titles start to release starting with Destiny.

TLoU sold just 240k in Japan on PS3. Managed just 122k in week 1, despite being on a system with a large install base, and at the time it was believed to be exclusive. It has barely sold over 17k in total since the start of 2014. Now it's releasing on PS4 as a second release, on a system that is struggling. I can't see it giving that much of a boost.

Diablo III sold just 90k on the PS3, and that's the best it has done in Japan. Sold 40k in week 1. This time, it's available on PS3 and 360 before PS4, so I can't see it having that much of an impact.

I could maybe see TLoU selling around 50k copies, and Diablo III maybe 20k copies.

Could it top the Wii U? Maybe. But I think it's relatively unlikely. Hyrule Warriors managed to give the Wii U a boost in the week prior to release of the game. PS4 didn't see a boost in its last week. So my prediction is that Wii U will be at 14k, and PS4 will be at 12k.
