I hope that this game manages to move PS3 hardware above 30k, Japan sales have dropped way to low.

Don't worry i can assure that it'll increase sales to 30k. Or they just wait for this

Yeah...looks like Famitsu is generally pretty harsh....so a 37 from them means even more than from someone else :P

Well, in comparison, let's take a random sampling of Famitsu scores for some heavily Japanese-targeted games.

Lost Odyssey: Famitsu 90%. Average 79%.

Hot Shots Golf Portable: Famitsu 92.5%. Average 82%.

Ace Combat 6: Famitsu 90%. Average 81%.

Hot Shots Golf 5: Famitsu 90%. Average 81.5%.

Eternal Sonata: Famitsu 87.5%. Average 79%.

Yep. Pretty harsh indeed. :)

'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

“Your comments?? -- will Yakuza 3 lift Ps3 over the 13K level...“

I hope so, it would be nice if Yakuza 3 lift PS 3 sales over 40k...

Since no one answered routsounmanman....

Both Yakuza get around to a 350k-400k level and sell that amount again whenever a cheaper edition (ie Greatest Hits) is released.

@ ssj12: Apparently I'm not allowed to call out absurdly wrong posts now, or else I'm a "troll"?

@ BMaker11: Let's take a look at those scores you posted in comparison to the median on Gamerankings.

HALO: Famitsu 92.5%. Median 95.6%.

MOTORSTORM: Famitsu 75%. Median 82.5%.

GTA SAN ANDREAS: Famitsu 75%. Median 95.1%.

OBLIVION: Famitsu 80%. Median 93.9%.

See a trend here?

Yeah, I see trend here. The Japanese don't have an orgasm for games like GTA...but it still scored relatively well.  You know that different markets have different game tastes, so for those games to get scored well in the Japanese market means that they were good.

Games like Final Fantasy, and I guess Lost Oddysey appeal to them, that's why hey score even higher. It's a matter of taste, and if games that they normally wouldn't care about score 92.5% (Halo) then it's great, and games that score 75% (Motorstorm) were just good.

Think about it from their perspective......their preferences are flipped from what ours are.

It'll likely sell much like Dynasty Warriors 6 did. It'll sell a few hundred thousand, move another 10k in hardware over the previous week and then have no effect afterwards. I suppose it'll be a lot like Devil May Cry 4 as well.

Japan just isn't interested in the type of gaming available on the PS3 anymore. They want minigames and touch screens and balance boards. Bleah.

 Thanks, outlawauron :)

@ssj

Mario Galaxy's controls horrid??? In what world?

No problem. This is hope for Yakuza 3 though. The second is still selling very well, pushing around 4k each week. It could make it to the 850-900k level in Japan only.

I do this will match DW6 and HSG5 sales.

Famitsu like to give big games, high scores. I am sure it will be very good, but it isn't AAA confirmed yet.

Also they gave Lair 33/40 and red steel too. So I would think before thinking it's AAA.

They gave Lair a 33/40 because the Japanese evidently aren't impatient pricks and realized that all you needed to do to make the game good was learn the controls. Now you know the only reason it got berated was because of the controls, but once you look past that, or take the time to learn them, then the game is just fine

Right. Evey single Western reviewer was an impatient prick. It has nothing at all to do with the fact that the controls just plain suck, or the fact that Famitsu seems biased against anything resembling a Western-made game. No siree.

Glorious Nippon is always right. Not like those American pig-dogs.

Lair was reviewed in my country with a 8.5 and 8.7 by the two main publications .And even in US it received decent scores by some mags as Game Informer ,Gamepro etc .The 4.5-5 scores were only given by the buffoons at IGN and Gamespot that simply couldnt play it form more than 20 minutes and learn the controls and labeled it as crap too fast .Granted ,the game is not a AAA but its not that bad by any means .
