Probably more to do with MS running out of announcements than not wanting to catch the flight.

Did you see gamescon? They ran out on E3. THe only thing that was anounced at gamescon was that tomb raider was timed exclusive, then it was E3 2.0. I think they just have nothing to show so they are skiping it.
It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Now let's take a close look at that:
One should muster better examples than that - if they exist. Then again, I never said anything about Japan "liking" what's been released. They're just nothing on the level of a full exclusive Yakuza game, FFXV, KHIII - which all happen to be far from releasing. |
Well if you believe that sony did not started yet you may believe so but in my book they started but hoped third party devs would make the PS4 sell.. The ps4 did worse than PS3 did around the same time and PS3 had nothing from FF or MGS or even on that level that could sell PS3..
poor microsoft...
sony said has many games to show in tokio game show, so... ps4 will kill xbox one and this chrismas is for ps4.

I think you got misguided by the Xbox propaganda crew on this site when there was a time that they have posted articles how Xbone is supposedly selling out of preorders in retailers and that it's on top of Amazon.jp for 6 minutes, how there are dozens of games, etc. There is no hype. There is only obscurity. Sony has to overcome a way stronger competition than Xbone. Japanese gamers indifference towards home consoles, turning towards handhelds and mobile gaming, as well as convincing big 3rd parties that it's viable to invest in the PS4. |
last time I checked XboxOne was still in the top 100 right behind the Wii U, that's very impressive if you ask me.

You're forgetting that the DW on PS4 is also on PS3/Vita and is only a Xtreme Legends version of DW8.

It hardly seems they have started when Sony Studio Japan releases a game like Knack that supposed to be marketed as a universal title, not Japan specific. I don't see Japanese so quickly jumping the gun when they have Persona 5 and other titles to be released there and with versions of Yakuza and Final Fantasy on the way, a lot might stick regardless what Sony would bring. They never seemed to be graphic whores. Bloodborne is the only announced title I see that could be impactf PS4 sales until we hear (hopefully) some surprise announcements at TGS.

I can't really decode what MS is trying to do... Yep, Ballmer's aggressiveness, greed, power lust and paranoia could even scare away people, but sometimes MS is almost touching the opposite extreme to try and look meek.
So, at the end, they only had announcement for one conference in the year...Just like last generation, except they drop the ball at the beginning this time
Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:
PS4: 17m XB1: 10m WiiU: 10m Vita: 10m
Since Sony's going to be the only one at TGS maybe Sony should break it down into 3 shows to replace MS and Nintendos: one for PS4, one for the PS3 as there's still some life left in it (Persona 5 cough*), and another show to actually talk about the PS Vita for once and show it some love for f*** sakes lol
