I found this comparison interesting, and it also shows us how well the Wii is selling out there in Japan compared to the PS2.
This is from the week ending Feb 17, 2001

Then last week, Feb 17, 2008

I know this is about 2 months earlier in the life cycle for the PS2, than the Wii is so I not looking at lifetime totals, just comparing Week to Week
Another interesting thing I noticed is that it took the PS2 74 weeks before the first title achieved million seller status(Onimusha)
The Wii is on week 64 and already has 5(SSBB, WiiFit, MP8, WiiSports, and WiiPlay) ( and could have 6 by the time it hit week 74 depending if SMG gets a healthy Golden Week boost) (basically SMG need to sell 90k over 10 weeks which will include golden week, I think)
End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut
