How the hell did we go from Europe suing Microsoft to an argument about health care?

Because Health Care is the first thing that comes to the mind of some Americans when they want to bash Europe for whatever reason?

But what I don't understand is why they pick healthcare, that's one of the big things that the majority of
Europe kicks the crap out of the US for.

Why don't they bring up their education system? Or their 'green' plans? Or their use of the metric system?
Oh... right.

Europeans still love communism, eh? Hurt the big guys that are smart and make money.

We fought on YOUR side AGAINST communism, remember? Europe is capitalist, democratic and also has better medical coverage than you pay 10x for, because we care.

This is where the health care talk came from. noone was bashing it until someone started bragging about how much better it is then the US system.  and really its more of a matter of opinion because my work pays for my health insurance so its free and I don't have to wait in line so the US system is the best for me and I get the best doctors. but thats just me.

Erm, guys... the UK is part of the EU. And Coca-Cola, a country can very easily be both democratic and socialist.

ssj12, the UK's health system (a socialist health system) rips the US health system to shreds.

And the fine was entirely fair.

I know planty of Canadians that hate their country's healthcare system. Most come down to America as the doctors actually give a damnabout what they are doing.

Private insurance + your choice in doctor = A+

you get to choose your doctor with socialized medicine as well + you'll never be refused care

This picture speeks for itself the third world countries system is used by the us (if you can afford it you get care if not to bad)

Greenish blue = countries with socialized medicine

grey = countries without

green = countries trying to get socialized healthcare

ummm....who cares about the euro trash anyways. If microsoft has an issue with it they could just finance revolutions in half the countries. Or even buy the countries, if they are feeling lazy. Microsoft makes more money than most of them.

Or if they are really mad, they could team up with exxon to take over the world!! muahahahhah
Keep thinking that you moron.

Hey don't be like that he's giving himself self indulgence. No man should be denied to indulge himself of anything he pleases. Maybe sometimes but I think we can let this pass. XD

hum first of UK is in the EU, second you realize that the dollar is so low and inflation made its work so 1.3 looks adequate and adapted considering the economical climate right now all thing considered.... I mean it would be the equivalent now of those 500 000 the US fine a while ago.

and to those who still think EU is weak, I just want to point out that together the EU is indeed the first economical power in the world and that economist and other financial and business related bodies are more and more considering EU as a single body.

so get your fact together.... on the fortune global 500, in the top 100 companies 49 are European.... someone was talking about exxon... in the top 10 companies 6 are oil related 3 are european...
in banking in the top 50 you have 12 banking companies 7 are european 2 are swiss...
in insurance again in the top 50 you have 4 all 4 are european
in the automobile industry you have 11 companies in the top 100, 5 are european 4 are asian and 2 are US.... oh wait all are turning profit except the 2 americans...

bhind USA and Japan France is the third country in number of company in the list with 38, germany 4th with 37, britain 3rd with 33 etc....

I'm just tired of the ignorance of some people (and I'm sorry especially in north america) which is tarnishing their entire nation.... you guys should try to look at what's beyond your boundaries, that way the one that are not ignorant don't have to hold the burden for you....

now to come back on the subject... MS deserve a fine legally, but I don't agree with everything in the anti trust laws in europe or other countries.... and I also don't think MS should be the only one....

P.S.: I would like to point out that I have nothing against the united states of america, and its citizens, I live here and have plenty of friends here.... but it's annoying to be bashed all the time by ignorants who think USA is alone and almighty in the world... it's so annoying and not true, we all need each other and if any was to turn against another the entire world would suffer a crisis like never before...

The EU is going to fail. The UK is already thinking about either getting kicked out of it or leaving it because its conflicting with their own personal goals. Without the U.K. the EU is not as strong.

Universal health care WILL NEVER happen in the U.S. because unlike Europe we deal with an enormous amount of immigrants that come here (both legally and illegally) thus why it can't happen. And whereas the EU nations enjoy their free healthcare that takes months just to see a doc, I enjoy the fact that I pay for a good service with a doctor that I want because my job gives me the best.

What are you looking at, nerd?

And the UK doesn't have alot immigrants, right?

Since the UK is part of the EU, we have a lot of immigrants coming to the country, not to mention to people who come to the UK JUST for health care.

And BS to 'takes months to see a doctor', you can get emergency appointments within the day. And any other appointment in about 3 days.

Tell me, is your entire world view based on delusions like this?

I live in Belgium, I can see any doctor anytime and it costs me next to nothing, and in all EU countries I know about this is normal. It's also normal for Americans who have private insurance; the difference is that many Americans can't afford it whereas in the EU everyone has access to fine healthcare. There's a reason why the USA's healthcare is ranked the lowest in the developed world you know.

Just wow....

Do you have any idea what's going on in the outside world?
