While I don't particularly like the CoD franchise (which is why I am getting Destiny instead) a game being scripted doesn't actually make it a bad thing especially if at the heart of said game its core gameplay mechanics (which is what is most important) works well. CoD is a FPS and has always had a very strong online component. COD:AW seems to improve on all that in every imaginable way.

The game holding your hand through its story mode doesn't make it bad. Nor having scripted high impact scenes (the summer blockbuster effect). Not every game has to be open world and/or a sandbox.
