So why did Sony have the inferior multiplats? I'm seriously asking this because. It was common knowledge that the PS3 was more powerful among all my friends, and honestly, i thought the PS3 games looked the same as the 360.

I am unable to notice different resolutions. I can now the 720 vs. 1080 yeah this is pretty obvious, but with the 900 vs 1080 I cant tell.
I also game on a 65 inch Panasonic plasma, I think the graphics on the 360, and PS3 still look good to me, I still play on those systems without any eye bleeding.
I know there people on here that can tell, and see all the problems. That's awesome, but it also sounds like a curse.
ffor all those where this is a serious issue are most of you primarily PC gamers? I built a pretty good rig but it's for school, and multitasking. I never had any interest to game on it.

Of course there is self interest, but who also benefits from this? The Xbox community, that the company making the hardware is also willing to help devs achieve more.

MS this gen, made the same mistake that Sony last gen made. They made a system that is/was hard to work on.
This was why I asked the question why didn't Sony do something similar last gen. Where they had the advantage of having the more powerful hardware.

The end result is similar (though larger), but MS and Sony didn't really make the same mistake.

MS's mistake was choosing weaker hardware. They likely did this to make bundling the K2 a more viable option, but in hindsight we know that wasn't the right choice. The X1 is slightly harder to work with (primary because of its more complex RAM set up; 8GB DDR3 + 32MB eSRAM rather than simply having 8GB GDDR5), but that only adds to the issue. The biggest hurdle it faces is having a pretty under powered GPU. It does have a slightly higher CPU clock working in its favor, but the use of that advantage is rather limited these days.

The PS3 on the other hand was the (theoretically) more powerful console, but an absolute nightmare to work with. Sony were too confident in their ability to sell PS3's and didn't give any thought to how poorly designed the PS3 was for developers at the time.

Sony got pretty lucky with the PS4's hardware. MS had the financial capabilities to run with the big loss-leader model again, but didn't. Not only that, they gimped their own console for a peripheral that few ended up wanting. Sony hit the jack pot :p

btw, I know it seems early to be talking about next gen, but does anybody think any of the hardware makers will be going Intel/Nividia, instead of AMD/Radeon the next go round.
I thought it was common knowledge that the Intel/ Nividia route was the way to go for gaming
Did they choose the APU because combining one with a GPU is supposed to simulate crossfiring cards.

I use an A8/6970 in my HTPC, and an (I5/7970 Watercooled) for my desktop.

@bold, no.  They aren't combining it with a GPU so that wouldn't help.

Look up Naughty Dog's ICE Team, XDev, and SCEE R&D. Sony Santa Monica Studio co-develops many games, as well. Sony even developed the free to use PhyreEngine, which was employed by games such as Hotline Miami, Disgaea 4, and Dark Souls. They've been providing high level support for years.
