Kinda veering off topic a little, but what's wrong with that?

Objectifying women for the pleasure of men? That's not wrong? =) What really grinds my gear is that Samus is one bad ass woman, and seeing her like that.... man...

That's one hell of a stretch to call it objectifying. Making a female character more attractive to appeal to male fantasies is not a crime. It happens to men not only in other forms of media but in video games too.

PM me if you wanted to say anything else. Might take a look at the old thread, because I'm obviously missing something here.

Well, it's not just that instance. Just look around of these forums for objectifications. I don't really care that much that dudes have hot chicks as their avis or in their sigs, but that's still objectification.

I don't have that much to say about this topic actually. I just... get pulled in againa and again :P

That doesnt really matter though. Its still pandering to male fantasies in a way that makes this media a lot more juvinile than most care to admit

Dont be ridiculous. Are you trying to make a list of approved outfits she's allowed to design? We've seen numerous instances of them pulling outfits from old games, and they do the exact thing here and it's a problem because women in games are only allowed to dress like nuns.

Instead of focusing on the fact that this Smash Bros has so many female characters it could make a separate game, which is great, you're gonna focus on non-issues like an outfit looking like exercise clothes on one character designed by a woman that has canonically existed for years.

What are you talking about, women are only allowed to dress like nuns in games? What games have you been playing? Why does Samus needs to be dressed like that? Can you answer that? Name the reason as to why she is dressed like that.

Smash is a celebration of Nintendo games. Things are included in the games for fans. Fans of the Metroid game this is from will be excited the outfit made an appearance as a shout out to the game.

Wire Frame Little Mac, Mario Golf Mario Outfit, etc. Why are THEY there? Shoutouts to past games.

Seeing Samus fighting in this outfit is fine, because SHE LITERALLY HAS DONE SO ALREADY.

Now you have an issue with it because it's not appropriate fight wear? I think that might apply to more than Samus. Heck, by your logic we should shorten Peach and Zelda's dresses considerably so they can be more battle appropriate. And maybe mario should be in a robot suit rather than overalls.

This is literally a non-issue.

You only think in extremes and it's mind numbingly ridiculous.

What's ridiculous is the need for male sex fantasies to be present in a video game. This business, and a lot of the audience, just isn't very... well... adult/mature

I'm a female and I like the Zero Suit Samus alternate costumes and don't find them offensive; just a nice callback.

Can this get back on topic now?

This.

When put in the context of the other alternative costumes, it's not an issue, IMO.

Let's just make her into this:

Because that's almost the same thing.

How is Samus usually depicted in the games? How is Donkey Kong usually depicted? Samus almost ALWAYS has her armor and DK almost ALWAYS only has his tie.

Tell me what reason there is for Samus to run around in bikini in this game? Why should she be dressed like that?

@.@ well aren't you alarmist...that isn't even close to being the same thing. One is work out clothes that were featured in game and the other is an obvious pornographic situation (that image is pretty NSFW...you should probably label it as such)

Also, you were the one complaining that she wasn't wearing a suit of armor, not me. I was just pointing out how ridiculous that was...

And why would she be dressed like that in a game? Because she is typically under her power suit, which is likely very hot and very cramped, which is why she would likely opt for wearing less clothing and as I've stated multiple times, this is fairly common work out gear...you are the one who is turning this into an issue of oversexualization and objectification.

Why would she dress like that in this particular game? Because the whole series is a love letter to fans, with plenty of obscure callbacks to different things, including costumes, such as this ne

Actually, that suit is preeeetty advanced, so I doubt it's a very hot piece of armor if it can turn itself into a ball and fire missiles. I think there's a cooling system somewhere in there. Or n her Zero suit... suit.

Like I've said before, sexism goes way back in this business and that's where she picked up her bikini all those years ago, and it stuck. Whether or not it's a love letter to the fans, Samus received that suit because of female objectification.

But I don't feel like this conversation is going anywhere, do you?

You do realize Samus received that suit from the beginning because... sexism/objectification?

I'm honestly no longer convinced to belive that after seeing you equate exercise clothes to being group fondled against your will.

Even if that was true, what is considered taboo to wear in the past vs now is different. Now, it's just an outfit.

Anyways, yeah. See ya.
