Forums - Gaming - The Last Guardian launch timing known, but will it be released on PS4?

The Last Guardian was announced at E3 2009 during Sony’s press briefing, but was then delayed after originally being planned to launch holiday 2011. Though there were rumours that Team Ico’s action adventure would make an appearance at E3 it never materialised, but during Gamescom this year Sony has revealed that it now has a launch window in mind.

Speaking with Sony Worldwide Studios Boss Shuhei Yoshida, Eurogamer asked whether it’s possible that The Last Guardian would appear at the Tokyo Game Show later this year.

"I don't think so. Sorry," was his reply. After further probing however, Yoshida did confirm that they do have launch window in mind, yet didn’t go as far as revealing when it will be.

"I cannot confirm any timing because we are waiting for it to be in a state where we are happy that this is the game, “ he said. “We have a certain time frame in our mind, and the team is making great progress, but still not to the point that we can say that, here you go."

It’s interesting to hear in the interview that one of the reasons why The Last Guardian was delayed was due to “technical issues on the PS3,” suggesting that the game is more than likely to appear on PS4. "The technical issues on PS3 and the way it was engineered didn't work," said Yoshida.

The Last Guardian is expected to be similar in style to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, combining action and adventure with puzzle-solving.

If sony actually has a potential launch window then they should have enough material that they could scrap together to put out a teaser trailer at tgs at the very least, to prove to everyone that they aren't entirely full of shit. Especially after that stink they made when ign announced that the game had been 'officially' cancelled.

Sounds like they have the game still on slow burner.

I think every publisher always has a potential launch window in mind for every game they publish, so that doesn't really say much, but yeah Sony is looking pretty ridiculous when it comes to TLG.

TLG seems to follow the road of Duke Nukem Forever.
Only thing is that game also 12 years later or something haha

from that working its pretty much confirmed to be on PS4. however, i honestly doubt this game will ever see the light of day. and if it does i actually think it will be average at best.

I hope Sony proves to all of gamers that they don't lie about this game and they are not full of shit SOON ENOUGH or so many people gonna assume that this game is really a canceled game.

Add me if u want :)

Sony needs to man up and admit it's cancelled. They had a chance earlier this year but still insisted it's not.
