Forums - Gaming - P.T. / Silent Hills - The best thing to come out of Gamescom 2014.

While many have focused on the rampant negative press of the Tomb Raider timed exclusivity deal, it's easy to overlook the real gem of this years Gamescom, that being in part because one of those responsible for its creation, Hideo Kojima neglected to even mention it during any of the primary conferences, instead we got a vauge reference to it under a likely fake studio, 7780s for a title potrayed as being a jumpscarefest called P.T.

As it turns out the teaser released on to the PlayStation store is infact a teaser for a new Silent Hill game running on the fox engine, and being created by both Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro.

Many twitch streamers and gamers in general have played through the deceptively simple teaser, after all it's simply a L shaped hallway with one room, yet despite this people have already pumped hours into it, with new discoveries being made continually.

I for one am excited for the title and for this new direction for Kojima, not being bound by the story and series that is Metal Gear and instead being tasked with refreshing the beloved but misguided series Silent Hill.

I believe the combination of a new approach to the series, and retasking Hideo Kojima with a new series, along with the inclusion of Guillermo del Toro, will lead to a return of the genuinely scary, deep, magnetic experiences Silent Hill was once known for.

Currently there is no news or info of any sort stating what platform the game will release on, but it's assumed that this will be released for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Feel free to use the thread to discuss your findings in the teaser.

I agree, this game is looking extremely promising. Kojima & Del Toro are too good to screw it up.

I agree, I want this game, like, right now.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I liked it a lot but I have to say; It was really annoying how great the teaser started out but then progressed into becoming totally random with no explanation whatsoever. I am all about difficult games, and non hand holding, but the fact that people all over the place (including me) are just randomly milling around to beat the last puzzle and having no idea how they even got to the trailer is stupid and kills replay value, and I hope the game is not designed like that. Hoping that element is just Kojima trolling, and any final game will not be filled with that stuff.  Endless red sprint hallways was EPIC.  Talking bloody lunch sack was great too.  Pretty excited.  I have also heard rumors that the P.T. teaser has nothing to do with Silent Hills and is about a completely different game coming to PS4...

Agreed. Kojima truly is a master troll. First the box video he showed on stage and then the teaser

I love horror games, and I love smart marketing ploys.
I want this game right now...

I can never seem to get into horror games =(

I love horror books, but I just don't feel like the genre translates well into games or movies because for me the horror actually has to come from my mind. Imagining the scene in my own way. If it's just put on a screen in front of me to look at and listen to...it just bores me.

This is just my personal opinion on it but other than the fact that Kojima and Norman Reedus is working on it i didnt get excited for it. I played through the demo and didnt really find it scary and it was kind of boring and confusing, granted this isnt how the final game will be. WIth that said, i am excited because Kojima is working on it. While im not a fan of horror games im excited to see what he can do outside of MGS. Hope it turns out great.

Biggest announcement for me is still the Tomb Raider announcement personally. I wouldnt even put Silent Hills in my top 5. From the Sony conference for example i found Wild to be much more interesting.

Nah... WiLD is

Game looks extremely ambitious

From a personal perspective, without doubt. I still consider Silent Hill 2 to be one of my favorite games. The Silent Hills announcement was on a completely higher level than anything else.

Hopefully, it will deliver. Silent Hill is about guilt and the darker side of human emotions. It's about making you feel like a human being rather than a super-hero. That's a hell of a lot harder to pull off than what most games are attempting.
