doenst. but that quote clearly referred to the us.

or why does he made that statement after 10m us sales and not after 10m global sales?

The statement of "first to reach 10 million in the US wins the generation globally" up until that point may have proven true.  I haven't done the research so I don't know.  Either way, first to 10 million in the US winning the US does not equal winning the generation without winning globally.

Unless of course Don is actually TheDrill and meant "win the generation globally in the US"

what?

this is the qoute

“History has shown us that the first company to reach 10 million in console sales wins the generation battle. We are uniquely positioned to set a new benchmark for the industry.”

where do u read the word globally?

thats just yours and the interpreation of other in the internet. not an actual fact.

"hey i know better, what that guy was talking aboutt than himself"

thats how many gamers act and its just stupid. i hate this stuff

Where do you read the word US?  I read the words "generation battle" which to me says "sell the most consoles during the generation".  Xbox did not sell the most consoles during the "generation battle".

May seem stupid to you that someone infers "globally" from "generation battle", but it seems stupid to me that someone infers "US" from "generation battle".  See how that works?

i dont read the word us.

but as i said before. he made this statement after 10m us not global sales.

ms always focus on theire home market. and mainly only care about theire home maket

the us was (and is) the biggest console gaminig market. so why should "win the generation battle" mean selling the most units globally and not only winning the most important market?

and by the way. when he made that statement, the wii was leading globally by 7.5 million units

so yeah. sure when he said "winning the generation battle" he was talking about sell the most units worldwide while being 7.5m units behind place 1 instead of talking about the us, where they were in the lead...

ur interpration vs mine. what semms to be more realisic

maybe we should just ask him, what he meant

You keep inferring US, which is what I meant.

but as i said before. he made this statement after 10m us not global sales.

Again, timing of statement doesn't mean that it doesn't mean global sales.

ms always focus on theire home market. and mainly only care about theire home maket

So you are saying that they have their own goal posts for being #1?  That I buy.

the us was (and is) the biggest console gaminig market. so why should "win the generation battle" mean selling the most units globally and not only winning the most important market?

Because winning one large battle doesn't mean the smallers battles don't add up and cause you to lose.

and by the way. when he made that statement, the wii was leading globally by 7.5 million units

Irrelevant in the same way as the timing being 10m US.

so yeah. sure when he said "winning the generation battle" he was talking about sell the most units worldwide while being 7.5m units behind place 1 instead of talking about the us, where they were in the lead...

Seeing as these statements were made towards the beginning of the generation he could've very easily anticipated a comeback globally.

ur interpration vs mine. what semms to be more realisic

You would say yours, I would say mine.

maybe we should just ask him, what he meant

Also, let's take the full quote in context, with one important part bolded:

“This year will be the largest in the history of the video game industry, with Xbox 360 leading the charge in the U.S. and abroad,” said Don Mattrick, senior vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business in the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. “History has shown us that the first company to reach 10 million in console sales wins the generation battle. We are uniquely positioned to set a new benchmark for the industry.”

They sure thought they were still in first place everywhere...

Not as weak as the Xbox One's sales...and not as old as the last press release from MS claiming number of units shipped!

Already posted. And he is talking about 10 million US.

Of course it's old.  May 2008 is six years ago.

If you're talking about this being posted a few times in the last couple of days.  It's not that old honestly.
