@ GGE

Right. Like that brand new battle system that we had in TP. Or the brand new star collecting system of SMG.

Oh ya. Cherry Pick.
Or like how Nintendo doesn't use the exact same engine to make each sequel over and over. Or like how SMG took a new perspective on the daunting concept of 3D platforming revolutionizing platformers as we know it? TP took story telling to new levels never before seen in Zelda games as well as incorporated a transformation system which allowed you to switch back n' forth from Link to Wolf. While TP is hardly the greatest or innovative departure from the franchise it still manages to hold its own as a new and fresh addition.

Speaking of Cherry Picking maybe you could be a little more creative with your examples. Though I'm sure your fifteen minutes with SMG at the local Gamestop more than makes you an expert on it.

People please ignore GGE as she is not a representation of actual Nintendo fans but a blind fangirl.
Oh and you are a representation of the Nintendo fans?

Hey I have an idea, let's attack the individual instead of actually challenging or countering any of the points they've brought up in discussion. That's how big people debate right?
You know what GGE? You were fine on your first comment, because you were right, PSP Software sucks, and sales pale in comparison to the DS, but when you said that God of War doesn't reinvent the wheel, but you failed to mention how Nintendo does the same exact thing *Cough* Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers Brawl *Cough*. You are the exact definition of a cherry picker. And I do agree with Auron, you are not a representation of a Nintendo fan, but you are a blind fangirl.
Do you really think that God of War --> God of War 2 had the same amount of innovation as:

SMB-->SMB3-->SMBW-->SM64-->SMS-->SMG
ANY of these sequels? (JSMB2 and ASMB2 don't count, as you ought to know)

LoZ, LoZII:AoL, LoZ:ALttP, LoZ:LA, LoZ:OoT, LoZ:MM, LoZ:OoS/OoA, LoZ:FS, LoZ:tMC, LoZ:WW, LoZ:TP, LoZ:PH
I haven't personally played through every one of these, but they all incorporate new gameplay (often radically new) and new storytelling techniques (ditto).

Metroid-->Super Metroid-->Metroid Prime-->MP2:E-->MP3:C
Echoes may not be as glorious as its predecessor or successor, but it did try new things. I shouldn't even have to explain how the others innovated the series more than God of War could possibly match.

MK-->MK64-->MK:DD!!-->MKW
From 3D, to two-player co-op on one kart, to 12-player madness online and who knows what else, this series has done its share of innovating.

SSB-->SSBM-->SSBB
This one probably gives you the best argument -- until it's pointed out that ALL fighting game series advance through refinement instead of revolution. This game's "refinements" are considerably more extraordinary than those found in other series IMO but I am not an aficionado of the genre anymore.

GGE has a bad reputation, and a lot of times she deserves it, but in this case her attitude in no way invalidates her point.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

the only real complaint one could have on the PSP is its low software #'s on here. but vgchartz cant track PSN titles and I think thats the future of PSP games. $14.99-$19.99 downloadable games from the PSN. Sony has just now got to the point where they can actually utilize the PSN for the PSP.

Sony also just announced that a bunch of MTV shows are coming out on UMD for $14.99 (jackass, viva la bam, beavis & buthead, aeon flux, etc)

And Patapon isnt Locoroco with more niche appeal. Patapon will sell for $19.99 vs $39.99 for Locoroco. Pricing has really held back PSP games, they shouldnt be selling for $39.99 unless they are a bonafide AAA smash. (God of War, GTA, or Crisis Core) Most games should be $19.99 - $24.99.

another thing to remember is that PSP software is tracked rather poorly here. Only 6 games on the worldwide charts, Europe has 11 million PSP's and gets next to nothing tracked in software.

There are possibly tracking issues, but even that would only be a small effect overall. I'd be amazed if we doubled the systems numbers, really. In fact, I'd be a bit shocked if there was a 50% increase from untracked games.

The PSP is not doing poorly in software, though. Handhelds have historically had worse attach rates than consoles, and though I don't have the information anymore I did see a tie-ratio for GBA that made it look like PSP wasn't so bad off and the DS was just a monster among handhelds. Oh, look at the sales numbers!

Yeah, the DS is a monster, that doesn't mean PSP is a failure. Using any other standard shows the PSP as being pretty well off. It's still selling pretty well, at a profit, and software keeps being made and sold, even if both are at smaller numbers than the competition. It's biggest failure is that cheap ports like the latest Madden cost $40. That simply isn't acceptable, and it's that $40 point for games that is really killing them.

That said, all they need to do is release software people want at a price that is fair. Once they can do that, the software sales will catch back up to the THRIVING system sales.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

What is this a joke? It seems like you want the psp to be destroyed or something. Its selling very well, its making money, and its still the best video game handheld you can purchase.

yea is the TC serious?

Since when is a portable device selling 30+ Million Units dead?

Just because its not selling the same as a DS? Compraring the sales of PSP to the DS is like comparing the sales of a VW bug to a Ferrari...Their in different classes, and one is a cheaper and appelies to a wider audience...come on now :P

well I think its because of the umd disc and the lack of sexy games, well thats my opinion.

psp only has 4 games that sold over 1 million copies.

ditch the umd disc and add something crazy like a blu ray drive or something lol just anything but the umd.

i mostly see people use there psp's for skype and music, porno etc. i know i use mine for music

ps store updatee on april 15th= release date of home

4 games...? nope sorry, it's more than 4 games. I read earlier on this forum there were 12 or 13 games that got to 1 million.

why do people keep saying that the PSP is selling bad and is dead?
clearly the PSP has done great, and continues to sell and make money.

People have to remember that Nintendo in previous generations has dominated the handheld market with over 95% market share, and now for the 1st time Nintendo has some serious competition with the PSP, not only that but for the 1st time as well Nintendo has lost a fairly large percentage of the market that it once use to own, so all in all Sony is happy with the PSP because the PSP has done great for Sony's first handheld.
