hahaha oh man that was good.
You do know that after Japan numbers it will beat 360 right?
Of course it won't reach DS, but DS is selling higher than anything and is not really slowing down.
PSP is still selling great, making Sony lots of money, and still providing top games. Stopping it just because they won't reach DS doesn't make any sense.
Why didn't MS quit after the Xbox? Why didn't Nintendo quit after the N64 or GC? Case closed.
My Top 5:
Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger
My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3
and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
The reason the PSP is lagging is because Sony went their usual route and tried the make the most technologically impressive machine that they could. So now the "Hi-tech" of 3 years ago is old news people are moving on to new media devices(iphone).
The reason the software sells so bad is piracy, and the fact most people that have a PSP have like 1 or 2 games max, and then use it for a media device.
End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut
PSP is dead as a gaming console.
PSP is not dead as a portable communications device and internet interface.
People here will either try and argue with you that its sales are undertracked or that it being the most successful non-Nintendo handheld ever (in hardware sales at least) justifies its embarassing existance.
Once again, the PSP is the only handheld device that has EVER given Nintendo a run for their money. Sony should be proud, very proud. If Sony beat the pants off the DS, that would be like if Microsoft had won last generation after coming in a few years later and without the support/experience to handle the console market. It just wouldn't happen.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson
@akuma-
The PSP had the Playstation name, it had hype, it had strong financial support, and superior tech... and it still failed miserably as a gaming device.

Hardware sales are a resounding success. Software sales are a dissapointing failure.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.

How has the PSP given Nintendo a run for its money when in spite of it Ninendo has managed to launch their most successful handheld console ever?
