I voted yes.

The last time there was only one prominent, 'unified hardware' it sorta led to the video game crash of 1983.

There needs to be competition. A monopoly doesn't work. Competition ensures these companies actually have an incentive to deliever good and improved products. I don't like exclusivity either, but its necessary.

Fair enough. But wasn't the original question whether you 'hated them and wanted them to go bankrupt'? Wanting them to go third party in a way doesn't really fit into that...

They don't. There was a thread some time ago, naming >70 franchises Nintendo has made in the last 15 years, some as recent being 2010 or after.

The only truly rehashed franchises are Mario and Pokémon.

well its true it is mostly because of Nintendo. Nintendo asked sony to help them on the Playstation and then Nintendo back stabbed Sony and Sony went to go make a console on their own. They weren't intrested on entering the market until Nintendo asked them to help. I'm not making this up this is fact.
