Those are nowhere close, the first generation pokemon games sold over 30 million with 10 million in Japan alone, it also branched out into an anime, theatrical releases, toyline, card game, that were all huge successes around the world. Nearly 20 years later, the games are still selling around 15 million with each new generation and the anime/toys/cards are still around.

Youkai Watch/Monster Hunter/Animal Crossing have never been and never will be as big as Pokemon was at its peak.


Well tbf, only pokemon red/blue was that high and imo will never ever be repeated. the next highest games are Pokemon GS+Mario Bros around 7mil. As of now things look like with major success over 3mil in japan. I mean only like 7 games are over 2mil this gen so far :0

Anyway i agree, that level of success wont be repeated!!!
