Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft: Halo: The Master Chief Collection for PC Just a Mistake; “Numerous” Games in the Works in the UK

I really hadn't been following the game so I had no idea this mistake existed.

That said, I would say I would have been interested in playing the Halo series on my PC.

I own the PC version original Halo: CE already. I don't own Halo 2 though, with how they were trying to push GFWL pricing and being Vista only.

Seems they'd rather shaft you either by not releasing games for their own Windows platform at all or they shaft you with other things (GFWL DRM, GFWL pricing, Vista exclusivity, late releases vs console, etc).

I have a computer that I use for gaming and I buy and play games.... come on developers/publishers....

Fable Anniversary isn't out yet for PC, it's been out since February on console, Dead Rising is an Xbox Exclusive, I think you meant DR3.  Haven't checked out Max TCB, however, I don't think you can even remotely argue that the aforementioned titles...combined, compare to how popular Halo is.  Yes, releasing games that probably won't sell gangbusters on console on PC as well makes great business sense.  What business sense does not releasing a collection as big as Halo MCC on PC make, if not to funnel everyone to console?

You also kinda need to look at it from the perspective of the state of GFWL, which is laughable.  It's not just one thing, at least, not for me anyway.  There's a number of things that annoy me there.

You're talking about them supporting PC, although they don't have to, even if they state it.

MS is not gonna dump everything in PC because some people that don't wanna buy Xbox want that title.

The above mentioned titles are or will be on PC in the near future. That's more than what Take Two, EA, Ubisoft, Nintendo and Sony do.

If people want Halo buy X1, if they don't want to buy it, they don't want Halo that bad.

It doesn't make any business sense whatsoever to put Halo on PC.

Correct, but they keep stating that they think it's important once a year or two, at least.  That's really what irks me about this.  I don't care if they don't want to make games for PC anymore, or promote the PC platform, but ffs, stop saying it.  Just work on the Xbox division and be done with it.  I'd have no issues, and still be happily using steam.

Ergo, funneling people to console, which is what I said.  Sony gets criticized for spreading themselves out over multiple hardware sets, and Microsoft gets criticized for trying to funnel everyone into one.  You're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't. :)

Really?  GTAV's coming out in roughly the same time delay as the Fable Anniversary, possibly sooner (~6 months for both GTAIV and GTAV).  RDR didn't come to PC, sure, but virtually every other GTA has.  EA and Ubisoft have released games on PC already this year, and will continue to do so...not sure that's a fair statement.  Nintendo and Sony have never given the impression that they're a PC developer (even though numerous SOE titles do come to PC/Steam as well as the majority of the indie titles).  Again, my issue is that they claim one thing and do the other.  If they didn't say anything, like Sony, or Nintendo, I wouldn't care.

It makes plenty of business sense to put Halo on PC, if you're worried about piracy, make it a DD via GFWL.  Point is, the architecture is so freakin similar it would take little effort to port, and while I doubt it'd do anywhere near the sales numbers that you'll probably see on X1, I'd imagine it'd still make a profit on just the expense of porting.  I understand they're trying to funnel people to console, it's not a new trend...they've been doing it for years now.  I just think there's a good chunk of people who prefer fps on PC (for whatever reason), who won't buy an X1, but would've paid for Halo MCC on PC.

It makes fine sense. It's extra cash. The Master Collection is not gonna cause the fanbase to die off on X1, if it came to PC. PC would never get Halo 5 for many years. It just gets people who won't buy the system, for one game. Halo is the only game I would buy on a Xbox. But $400 for playing Halo isn't worth it. If I bought all the Halo's over the years. I'd waste $900 on hardware to play 7 games.

Well whenever they stop carrying about selling Xboxes and its economical well being they can satisfy the whim of PC gamers.

If people are really a fan of Halo, they should buy an Xbox.

Microsoft supports PC with multiple games a year varying from RTS to Platformers.

I'm a fan of Halo. But I don't do that. I own several tradepaperbacks, novels, Halo 1 PC, the animated movie stuff, all 11 seasons of RedvsBlue. But nothing else. Because It's not worth owning a system for one game series, to me.

It's 4 games, 100 maps on dedicated servers, an episodic Halo series and Halo 5 MP beta.

Also, Xbox One can play other games too, so it won't be "just for one game."

It doesn't make sense to publish a game that sells systems on PC. Halo means= XBL subs and consoles shift.

This shouldn't even be an argument.

Heh, no, PC gamer's aren't exactly a forgiving lot.  Much like console gamer's they too can hold a grudge.  PC gamer's have generally flocked to Steam and it'd take a hell of allot of effort for Microsoft to entice people back to GFWL (it's so very far behind Steam at this point).

No, they shouldn't, they should stick with what's important to them, the MP experience, the control scheme etc... one single game doesn't make up for personal gaming tastes.

Microsoft tends to release a game on console first, and then ~6 months later release on PC, for the major titles.  This is done purposefully (although disguised as 'polishing'), to funnel people towards console.  This will work on allot of people, mainly folks who prefer using a controller.  But for people who prefer M/K support, this just doesn't do anything but annoy.  As I said, if they didn't say anything, this wouldn't be an issue.  But they make a point to say that PC still matters, and then deny one of their largest franchises to PC.  Very silly.

There is not even an issue here.

i told you the games that are coming or are already publish in 2014 and you still say that MS don't support PC?

/done.

You checked out of this one awhile ago, it's not a revelation.
