Heh, no, PC gamer's aren't exactly a forgiving lot. Much like console gamer's they too can hold a grudge. PC gamer's have generally flocked to Steam and it'd take a hell of allot of effort for Microsoft to entice people back to GFWL (it's so very far behind Steam at this point).
No, they shouldn't, they should stick with what's important to them, the MP experience, the control scheme etc... one single game doesn't make up for personal gaming tastes.
Microsoft tends to release a game on console first, and then ~6 months later release on PC, for the major titles. This is done purposefully (although disguised as 'polishing'), to funnel people towards console. This will work on allot of people, mainly folks who prefer using a controller. But for people who prefer M/K support, this just doesn't do anything but annoy. As I said, if they didn't say anything, this wouldn't be an issue. But they make a point to say that PC still matters, and then deny one of their largest franchises to PC. Very silly.
