Forums - Sales - Is it possible for PS4 to cross 17 million mark by 2014

15 million, yes. 17 million? You cray cray.

So you expect the PS4 to only sell 6M more in its 2 strongest quarters? You cray cray.

In September, it will likely reach 11M after Destiny launch. And then from october PS4 will sell/ship 7M in the holiday quarter alone.

At the least, it will have sold 17M by Jan 2015.

Yeah, it will reach 17 million, but vgchartz will say 15 million. ;P

I don't know. I think lots of users are using good arguments. Both those who say it'll sell more and those who say it'll sell less. Truth is it's really hard to predict that, especially because of most important variable here, human behaviour, is very hard to predict. I mean just look ay several Pachter predicitions which fail hard, or the already infamous polygon MK8 prediciton. And those are supposedly profissionals...

Well anyway I withdraw my previous 13M prediction and throw a more safe 14M-15M bet, neither too conservative, nor too far fetched.

I still don't believe we'll see the same kind of behaviour we saw with previous generation because tablets still stole gamers from console gaming, even in EU/US (of course not near as much as in JP).

It will depend if the games that are coming won't disappoint. I predict a whole million PS4's in September, the Destiny month. And if the game proves to be a system seller PLUS all the games coming in holidays it can achieve 16M or even 17 by the end of the current year.

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

I really doubt it getting more than 14 million to be honest - seems far fetched

If Japan cooperated a little then... maybe! But as far as things goes... nope.

15 or more million is hardly far fetched

You really don't have a point and you're kinda losing your credibility be saying that the X1 will be the holiday leader in the US this year because of the MCC.

I'll happily bet you on that, the PS4 will reach at least 15 million by the end of the year.

its halo. its america.

so whats ur wager? 100 bucks?

edit:

just look at this

http://www.vgchartz.com/tools/hw_yoy.php?reg=Global&start_year=2013&end_year=2014&console=PS4

weeker april, may, june sales and maybe july sales for ps4 frist year, vs ps3 second year.

why should the ps4 first year holiday should be soooo much better than ps3 second year holiday in that case? (relative increase wise)

Why are you using ps3's second year and ps4's first? Also, ps4 had way more stock then ps3 which changes the dynamic. Consoles sell more in year 2. PS4 is NOT the ps3, ps3 didn't do that well in the US, ps4 is the market leader and WAY ahead of ps3's pace. Using ps3 as an argument is useless, ps4 is not the ps3 and is selling totally differently and better.

Titanfall given free, a price cut didn't help x1.. halo remakes dont sell like mainline games and it won't win the US this holiday. It will take more then that to change consumer momentum for PS4.

Consumer demand and a wide array of factors that come into play with regards to consumer momentum....It will have a big holiday. PS: People don't buy consoles just to play exclusives. Look at how it's competition is doing...........PS will get most of the sales this holiday and it's already selling incredibly well, lots of games and holiday buying this fall.
