They are awesome but neither if from a franchise that has ever even sniffed 5m in sales.  

Multis are the majority of the industry, flood of them will help some one.  cough leading console cough.

Come holidays basically some thing will sale.  PS4 selling is a given.  PS4 seling most is pretty much a given also.  So unless market goes bust and every one sales like crap, well... The popular more in demand console will sale most, and thats the PS4.  So barring shortages, it will sale great even double so far.

Some people seem to be highly under estimating the ps4. its already right around 10 million, and we still have 5 months to go, Which include the destiny month, Black friday november, and christmas december.

The 12 million talk is borderline troll bait. that would mean it continues to sell at its summer pace for the rest of the year.   If anyone seriously believes 12 million is a realistic number, they need to get their head examined

It will have reach 12/14m BEFORE Holiday, unless I didn't understand the OP. After the Holiday, then maybe it'll hit the 16-17m mark depending on the fall line-up.

This is about how much it can achieve by the end of 2014,   so at 11:59pm on dec 31st.


Do the holidays happen before or after the end of the year?    .....

ps4 sold 4.2m first half of 2014 (including japan launch) sitting at 8.4 million end of june
to reach 15 million end of 2014 it has to sell 6,6 million more

first half year to second half year increase needed: 57%

historical ps3 data:

Nah.  Remember, 15m by the end of 2014 is including the 4m+ from the PS4's launch and holiday of 2013.  Personally, I don't think the PS4 will ever have a 20m+ year.

The Ps3 had sold 9M by the end of 2007 and  sold almost 15M in 2011.

The 360 had sold 8M by the end of 2006 and sold almost 14M in 2011.

The WII had sold 19,5M by the end of 2007 and sold 24M in 2008.

So personally I think it's not impossible but maybe I'm too optimistic

Well, comparing any console to the Wii's best year is setting the bar too high.

But I agree with you; it's not impossible for the PS4 to break 20m in a year, I just don't think it will personally.  But we'll see.
