It doesn't really care if beated MK8 or not, the good news is how it did compared to the PS3 version. Pretty good numbers

Not needed. Justified sure, but needed no. TLOU Ps3 original + DLC could have been an early PS Now title and been the way for PS4 owners to enjoy the game. So there are ways for Non-PS3 owners to play the game that don't involve remastering. Therefore it can't really be said to be needed.
Still I am pleased it has started well, and it is a good to thing, imo, that PS4 owners can own the game outright if they want to.

There are actually quite of us who missed it when it came out on PS3. So it was awsome I get to play the remaster for my 1st go. So far loving it. Just completed the winter, not sure I how far I have to go still....

Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut
