Hehe, China hasn't been a communist state for many years. They are a market economy with heavy influences from socialism. The cost of living in China is also alot lower than the US, making it possible for the middle class to spend more of their money on other things, which in turn further boost the economy. These console aren't priced at an optimal level but I think they are really interesting for the middle class.

They never stopped being a communist state. They simply said publically that they quit following many of the communist tenants in like the late 70's. However they are still very much a comunism and the country is still ruiled by their communist party. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-pacific-13904437

Their market eceonmy is not influenced by socialism, you are confusing socialism with comunism. In a socialism the community as a whole own and influenceevery busines, no single person or corporation can own or control a business in a socialism http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/socialism. In a communism government or in China's case the communist party owns all local businesses and descide what outside businesses can sell their items there. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/communism

So again it's still very much a communism when it comes to business practices and unfortnatly tho they are close you are confusing socialism with communism. In order for it to be socialism there has to be consensus and control from the entire community and not a singualr government that makes descisions for everyone. Which China still very much is. If it wasn't then there would be no sweat shops, they would have workers rights, and they would have complete and open access to the internet instead of the highly restricted and propaganda filled version they have now. The cost of living isn't eaxctly cheaper, the government simply owns all property. If the cost of living really was cheaper then a new Xb1 which is factored into the cost of living in most modern countries would be considerable cheaper, especially since it is built and manufactured in that country, Instead it's $200 more expensive than it sohuld be.

Now if you were to say the cost of survival in China was cheaper and left the people with more cash to spend on other things then yeah you'd be right because the government takes care of those basic nescesities. However the cost of living is not the same as the cost of survival. The cost of survival covers all the basics you need to stay alive and relativly healthy, food, water, shelter. Everything spent after those nescesities are met is the cost of living. So basically everything used to live and enjoy life like electronics, vehicles, travel, entertainment, furniture ect, but only the basics that keep you from going insane. Obviously there are more epensive and lavish luxory items that sit outside the bounds of cost of living. So since many items there like the Xb1 and other basic game consoles that would fall under cost of living in most counties for example are way mor expensive. It's fair to say the cost of living is more expensive due to the fact that their cost of survival is so cheap and they have extra money to spend on those items.

Too bad it's been available in china since launch day regardless.

Ironically, i saw an xbox one on sale in Japan today, a used one. isnt even out here and people are already trading them in.

I really doubt MS will do good there, considering how bad they are doing in the rest of Asia.

However Sony or Nintendo can do well - though Nintendo really NEEDS to expand to new markets, because so far they are in less than 20 or even 15 countries globally I bet.

Wow, $700.

People must have rolls of toilet paper made out of $100 bills over there...

China also has one of, if not the, largest middle classes in the world that have plenty of money to spend on luxuries...

Except for the fact that their middle class = the poor in most countries since their middle class is much different than the rest of the world. http://money.cnn.com/2012/04/25/news/economy/china-middle-class/

In the US for example 10k-60k a year is considered poor not middle class. Tho 60k a year would be considered lower middle class which in this current economy might as well be the working class or poor in the US which is around 32k a year which is a significant amount more than the majority of China's middle class. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_middle_class. Again the majority of the people in china arn't even middle class which would be considered poor by Amercian standards. It would still be insane to charge them $600 for a $400 machine when their middle class makes signicantly less than Americas.

LOL

The Drum Major Institute...places the range for middle class at individuals making between $25,000 and $100,000 a year. Ah yes, there's a group of people bound to run into each other while house-hunting.

That's one source from 2005. There are other more accurate sources listed that put middle class at 100k and 60k at the top of working class or the poor. I agree tho that is a large gap and those people arn't likely to see each other. The sad thing tho is it's still better than the majority of China's middle class.

In that same wiki page I linked previously in the section titled lower middle class which has a source that leads to the  "U.S. Census Bureau, distribution of personal income, 2006" https://web.archive.org/web/20061218182251/http://pubdb3.census.gov/macro/032006/perinc/new01_001.htm

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/china/iphone-manufacturer-foxconn-to-double-worker-salaries-by-2013/438
"The base salary in Foxconn's Chinese manufacturing bases will be lifted to RMB 4,400 ($700) per month by the end of 2013"
"Foxconn’s current base salary ($350) per month is already higher than the RMB 1,500 ($240) statutory minimum wage per month in the city of Shenzhen."

It is not the middle class, but it gives you an idea of cost of living.

LOL ok To fit the topic

"根据这些级车型中下阶层大致位于第52和社会的第84百分位之间。在2005年的个人收入分配而言,这将意味着每年的个人总收入从约32,500至60,000元。[21]

所有住户的42%,及大多数的前40%,有两个收入者,家庭收入数字会显著提高,从每年约5万元至10万元。[13]在教育程度方面,27%人有学士学位或更高"

Just kidden here it is in english.

"According to these class models the lower middle class is located roughly between the 52nd and 84th percentile of society. In terms of personal income distribution in 2005, that would mean gross annual personal incomes from about $32,500 to $60,000.[21]

As 42% of all households, and the majority of those in the top 40%, had two income earners, household income figures would be significantly higher, ranging from roughly $50,000 to $100,000 annually.[13] In terms of educational attainment, 27% of persons had a Bachelor's degree or higher"

So like I said in this economy since 2006 lower middle class has become pretty much the working/poor class and 60K a year sits ontop of it.
