Forums - Gaming - If Sony wants PlayStation Now to succeed, it has to treat us better than GameStop

and if Gamestop wants to continue selling PS3 games, it has to treat us better than PlayStationNow... PS3 games is going to get cheaper and cheaper...

It will succeed just fine, in case u haven't noticed the pay plans very greatly between games. Tis be but a test run to see what the market will deem acceptable.

By the way Now ain't targeted at us, its more at bored casuals noon gamer types..

Yet we are the ones most likely to spend money on old games....

no we are not, we are the type to likely already own them.

Well with it originally planned for PS1 and PS2 games as well and older consoles being liable to stop working we may want to play those older games again through PS Now. Casual gamers would prefer new games rather than old ones, PS3 games may do well with them but how many casuals would choose to stream PS1 or PS2 games?

To play games you own but cant play due to hardware failure.  You see renting as an solution.. WTF

Why rent them when you can own those old ones rather cheaply.  Game like FF7, 9.99 on psn.  Given the crap phone games they play, seeing them play awesome ps1 ps2 games is not far fetched.

Really grasping for an arguement there bud.  You seem desperate to argue agianst Now.  Almost like you fear its likely success, xbox or nintendy fan ?

I don't see PSNow either succeeding or failing. I see it just existing as an addition to the PSN store.
Although it's a streaming service, most similar to Netflix, it is not a single service requiring major investment. It is an add-on service requiring a medium investment, so for it to exist it doesn't need to attract huge subscription base.
It will work on dual payment basis, with most dedicated gamers, who already own a PS+ subscribing, and casuals, especially once it is available on more devices, paying a few bucks occasionally.
It is not something that will enrich Sony, nor something that will break them if it doesn't take off. It will always be there, on the store as an option.

That's an option for PS1 games but not PS2 games. I want PS Now to be a success just not at the current prices, I was looking forward to being able to replay great PS2 games without having to buy an old used PS2 to play them but for these prices it isn't really a good alternative.

Edit: If there was a monthly or yearly subscription to be able to stream games that would be ideal.

Not gonna happen, ea starting their own service already showes that.  Unless you want some limit 2/3 games a month or 24 a year type crap.

It's not comparable. EA allows you to download and play whenever, this is streaming.

Thus no need for limits, because outside of few freaks that will play 24/7 until their kidneys fail, nobody will really abuse the system much. Play an hour or two daily, it's not like you'll be able to play 20 games in a month.

This I find the most comparable to all-you-can-eat buffet. Restaurant makes profit of unlimited food for $6.99. Sure, some will gorge themselves until they puke repeatedly, but most will eat like they usually do.

I dont know about that, if eventually most TVs PC tablets even phones will be able to stream Now.   Just by the size of the audience the potential revenue might be insanely massive even with only a small fraction using the service on any regular basis.

hehe cool anology.

But i think when it comes to games, we currently lack the casuals numbers to out weight the whales that would abuse the shit out of the system potentially playing more games for very little then the massive casuals can make up for by playing once in the blue moon.  But its all a guess really.

Who knows how the service is doing, By now Sony might be zeroying in on the sweet spot pricing.  They havent been very vocal on Now stuff.

Potental is as big as the What ifs right now.
