im a fool. i thought they were talking Zelda proper and was wondering what the big deal was about a heavily single player game...

then i realized it was Hyrule Warriors and said WTF. Come on, a game that is heavily steeped in multiplayer in 2014 and doesnt have online? this isnt some indie arcade game. come on. ugh. I was actually getting excited for it, truly. but i will wait till the price drops. If Smash doesnt blow my socks off i will truly have to wait till Zelda drops till i get the system.

It does have an online mode, just not co-op. I'm thinking something along the lines of a vs mode.

or maybe just some silly ranking thing ala Bleach Ressureccion. i dont buy it. if it is a vs. mode why stop there? especially since the others have?

Speaking of Bleach why did i buy that game? the epitome of mediocore

Could be that yeh, just trying to be optimistic :P

A game like this doesn't need online co-op. I rather have the devs focus on the actual game play then having to develop and devote resources for online. I mean really think about it, would you really gain that much from this?

run away!

so happy after reading this. I thought it wouldn't have co op at all, local co op is a bajillion times better than no co op!

For most adults local co-op only is same as no co-op. Local gets impossible with jobs, kids, partners etc.

Well, you can always play local with the kids, partners, the boss at the job... :)

Lot of people use gaming as their escape from all that.

Do they have to escape twice? :(

You guys why don't we just wait for the Direct? It is confirmed to have online play, we don't know what that is.

How do we know the tweet meant that the coop just wasn't confirmed?

Tecmo and Nintendo are taking a huge risk here. This game might not sell more than a 100k (I don't think so, but we don't really know..).
I just see this as them having a tight budget with a risky game. They might patch it in if it sells well.

Nintendo paid for the game - I assure you if they had wanted local and or online Co op it would have been in the game-   That is how business works

Nintendo paid for exclusivity. Have you even played the game? The story makes ZERO sense for co-op.

I have not played Hyrule Warriors or other Warriors game but from what I have read most of the recent Warriors games have online co op

We were talking about lego city...... don't interject yourself without knowing what gaming you are refering to....

Lego City -  bought it day 1 for my Son-  played it in a 2nd save file along w him -  the game should have absolutely had local co op -  would have made a ton of sense -    So I strongly disagree -  co op both local and online would have made thAt game much better and it would have sold many more copies w co op

The game's story made no sense for co-op, nor will it ever.

A lot of people would disagree- besides it is a nice open world that would have been fun to play w my kids

Who would disagree? Just you? Okay

I don't care what you do with your kids, but the game's story made zero sense to have co-op. Plus it had gamepad specific items that you can't get rid of.

Anyone knows about local coop scheme? I need pro controller or can use mote+nunch for second player?

Yeah, Nintendo should pay developers to include functionality people seem to think should be standard. That makes perfect business sense! Next Nintendo should start "incentivizing" devs to include multiplayer modes, or single player modes. On top of the fact that they're already incentivizing devs by letting them use their IP or outright funding their games.

"In terms of the players involved from Nintendo, it’s mostly just me [Aonuma]. Nintendo’s role is actually more of an advisory role, so the development is completely up to Tecmo Koei."

Clearly this is all Nintendo's doing.

It actually does make perfect business sense.  Let me go ahead and explain why for you.  It is really simple.  If you include the functionality more people will buy your game.  More sales equals more money.  More money equals better business.  See?
