Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One vs PS4: How Microsoft's Console is Getting Better and Better Than Sony's

In fact, Microsoft has paid careful attention to what its gamers want and has given them just that on many occasions. The company has rolled out eight solid updates till date, with each containing new features, including the ability to use external hard drives to manage game collection.

This was something gamers had been requesting for a long time and happens to be very useful considering console storage space is almost always way too low to store games.

Sony on the other hand has hardly added any features to the PS4 since its launch and has kept the vast majority of its updates minor.

This really should be on PS4, is there any particular reason why it isn't or can Sony just not be bothered to do it?

Or maybe the ability to upgrade your internal drive from day one negates that?

Based on how slow both the PS4/XB1 internal drives are, it is probably better to just replace it.

It is near the end of the end....

X1 has been better. Better exclusives, features, online experience, and services IMO. The only advantage for me that the PS4 has is better graphics. But I don't care that much for graphics so the X1 looks like the much better console at the moment.

Isn't MS pushing out more updates because there playing catch up to the PS4. For example isn't external storage supported on PS4 sense launch and now the One is just getting it on an update. Not seeing the big deal here.

I don't think PS4 has external HDD support. But like PS3 you can swap out your HDD, so different solution, same outcome. I prefer HDD swap out myself.

Actually, Xbox was launched in beta version. People keep saying how good the Xbox updates are, then when I go to see what's new, there are things like:

- NOW you can see the last time your friends were online
- NOW you can see how much battery is left on Xbox controller
- NOW you can use smartglass!
- NOW you can purchase through mobile devices
- NOW you can see how much GB your HDD have

Then I just stop... Look at screen... All of these things were already on PS4 how long ago? Isn't this supposed to be the standard? Ok, you can use smartglass and we have PlayStation App since launch, and even things that are relevant like 3D Bluray were launched first on PS4. You can't use them on Xbox yet.

Maybe there's some other feature that I don't know that is not available for PS4, but I don't think he's getting better at all. Actually, I think he's late.

the only one of those we dont have on the ps4 is last time friends were online, thats on the ps3 but not ps4

Yes it is. I'm always stalking my coworker to see when the last time he was online and what he did.

you sir have a special ps4, since im looking at mine right now and none of my friends on my friends list show when they were last online. and im running the newest firmware 1.75  if your talking about the recent activites thats not the same as what the ps3 has or knowing the last time they were online, that tells you the last time they started to play a game, for example one of my friends played TLoU at 11:28 last night  but i know for a fact he was on the game till 4am or so, but REcent Activites shows 11:28.   so again it doesnt show last online time.   The ps3 you just go to friends list highlight thier name and it will show when they turned off or logged off PSN.
