Forums - Gaming - Mobile gaming is the next step forward.

Next step forward huh? So the next step forward is smart phones? Wat.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Many games were already too "complex" for "normal people" more than twenty years ago.

It's never been news that you need to make something simple to engage the majority, and have quick production cycles to stay with the trends.

Title should be changed to "Mobile gaming needs to take a step forward," and article should be re-written to fit with that new title.

So what you're saying is gaming is going to devolve to the lowest common denominator with future Flappy Birds taking over the market and people permanently becoming addicted to their phones wherever they go. The future sounds just wonderful.

I think that may have already happened...

I should've been more clear, I meant phone gaming. Though seeing those articles about kids spending thousands of dollars on a mobile game the end of days might already be upon us.

Nope, I want real games not ones I pay 99 cents for that I play for 20 minutes and get bored

I'm not saying that mobile will be the end all future, at least not as we know it, I'm saying that as mobile games become more complex they'll create an even more favorable environment for general gaming, not just mobile, in the social sphere.

The mobile craze is catching on when console gaming has hit the peak of the AAA era. I guess it just feels like we're really close to not just a collapse of the AAA industry, but a return to the dark ages because companies want to cash in on the low hanging fruit that is the casual market. With the way game engines have spread, a small group of professionals could splinter off of a larger, possibly collapsing, AAA developer and immediately start working on the type of games popular on mobile.

It is the future for handheld gaming, but not full fledged home console gaming on the TV.

Home consoles that take advantage of large screens will always be able to offer experiences not able to be had on handheld devices.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Nah, I'm not a fan. I haven't gamed on my phone in months.

I suppose getting all that salt and grease would probably mess up the phone screen, so credit where credit is due we'll all be eating healthy granola bars.
