I'm looking forward to the Chio-chan anime because I feel like she is one of us.  There have been a lot of "gamer" anime but this time we have one that's accurate and realistic at portraying the feelings that make us special.

I actually read some of the Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs manga awhile back.  I dropped it because it was cliched and predictable.  It followed the "main character is a loser but has a good heart and is ridiculously overpowered and suddenly has a harem of beautiful, stereotypical girls form around him lol" path.  Really nice art, though.

However, it wasn't nearly as bad as the first episode of the anime.  That was just terrible.  Started out much differently than the manga, as well, which at least presented the backstory of the protagonist.  The anime clearly wanted to get naked boobs into the mix as early as possible.

This makes me think of the anime from several months ago where one of the characters had his manga turned into a very bad anime.  I can't help but wonder what the mangaka thinks about that first episode.  

The summer anime needs to start already...... 🙀

Sort of an odd thing to bring up here, but I read today that Shoko Asahara, the head of the cult behind the 1995 Tokyo Subway gas attacks, was finally executed today. Was in prison for like 22 years...what a process.

Of course, I'm not a history buff, so the reason it caught my eye was from watching Mawaru Penguindrum, in which the characters' parents were both involved with the incident and the cult itself. Here's a pretty cool article on the anime I was reading after hearing about the news. If you haven't seen the anime, I highly recommend it, it's one of those anime I've seen three times and still find new things. Really good OST too, and the OPs are pretty memorable.

Anyways, I haven't started any summer anime yet as I'm on vacation, but I'll try a few when I get home. I'll update the poll at the same time, so I hope no one is staring at this old one angrily waiting on a new one.

I remember that case boom, was pretty insane, didn't know there was an anime that had to do with it out there. Might give it a shot, will put it on my ptw.
PS. Haven't seen any summer anime either, just waiting on that last Darling so I can stop the suffering I have gone through with this show....on another Trigger note, Kill La Kill game looks decent.

It seems closer to the tone of the first season which I liked the most.

That's really good news. SAO was deviating too much from what made me like it in the first place.

I guess we're riding that Isekai wave right now.  I watched another one but I can't remember much about it except for an elf with large breasts.  Yeah, I don't know, that just seemed to be the focal point.

The other one with the grade school kids dominating an MMO, I watched that, too.  Heh.

Oddly enough, one of the few Isekai manga I like just got announced as an upcoming anime.  I'm anxious.  Even though I'm not a big fan of the genre, I really like this one, but it's kind of technical and intelligent, so I'm not sure how it will translate.  

It's So I'm a Spider, So What? (Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?), which is based on a series of light novels.  There is a disaster in our world and an entire classroom is disintegrated (or something).  Our main character remembers being a loner, a social outcast in school, but now she wakes up as ... a spider monster.  All around her are other spider younglings also emerging from their eggs.  As she watches, they begin to eat one another.  Moreover, a ridiculously gigantic and powerful spider, apparently her "mother", decides to snack on the newborn spiders, as well.  She runs for her life, out into the vast underground dungeon.  

What I like is that most of the usual cliches are gone.  All the early chapters are about her surviving and escaping death at every turn.  Even the lowest of trash mobs are a serious threat.  Sometimes she fights, sometimes she runs, but it all makes sense.  She uses strategy, lays traps, uses her intelligence and spider-ish skills.  While she's fighting for her life, however, she begins to realize that she has more skills than other monsters.  As she levels up, abilities that seem more and more powerful present themselves.  It becomes clear that she is more than an average trash mob and that something strange is going on behind the scenes.

The reason I'm worried about an anime version is that the manga is very wordy.  She's alone at the start and for a long time after.  Most of the dialogue is with herself.  It's very technical and goes in depth about her skills.  Of course, it's not above anime to cut out a lot of that and focus on the action.  I like the manga quite a bit the way it is, however.  It's funny but it's not a comedy--the humor mostly comes from the main character amusing herself by being silly.

I hope they do it justice.

FLCL Progressive was nice. But now I have to wait until September for Alternative, ughhhh the wait is already killing me. On the brightside Toonami is gonna start airing Jojo Part 4 soon so that's cool.

Asobi Asobase certainly is..... interesting? Like a hardcore Sansha Sanyou.

Also already the best ED of the season.
