Kokkoku might be this season's AOTS. The Seiyu of Juri was so good I almost mistook her for Tomoyo Kurosawa but it's actually just her girlfriend Chika Anzai.

Takagi-san was as cute as I was expecting. Was worried the gags wouldn't translate well, but I was pleased. The whole "you finally looked at me" part made me smile. Not my creepy slight smile but my genuine one. Also Yuki Kaji nails the over-reactions.

Gave Yuru Camp a shot. Just as laid-back as the name implies. I like the detail they put into the camping preparations. Really makes me want to go camping, and I love the scenery animation. Not sure if I'll keep up with this all season, but the first episode was nice.

Also main girl's voice sounds familiar. Where could it be from...*scratches chin thoughtfully*

Been playing Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth which is basically an anime in game form. So I haven't had the desire to watch much anime lately. To make things worse, soon my last semester of university will start and I have some time consuming classes to deal with. Lastly I might go to Japan after I graduate, and anime might be the last thing I want to do when I am there.

All in all I don't think I will match my output from last year.

At this point, it feels like it's going to be a weak season overall.

At least next season will deliver based on Hinamatsuri alone.

Looks like a pretty decent comedy season to me. And it's spiced up by Kokkoku and Overlord 2.

Ryuuou no Oshigoto delivers the first well used Ahoge in a long time.

Looking at next season it seems they want to get all the comedy out of the way for a flood of melodrama.

A Place Further Than The Universe ep 2 -- that was some fantastic writing and dialogue. Absolutely first rate. This is looking like the cream of the crop for this season. I kept rewatching bits and pieces.

Only thing that concerns me is that this is basically Made In Abyss.

It turning into tragedy/horror halfway through would be quite interesting.  Like the CGDCT version of Madoka.

NO! BAD POKOKO! This is the comedy season! We're all just gonna have fun and laugh and no drama and no one gets hurt!

I fucking knew it. I knew something felt familiar in Sora Yori. I thought to myself this direction and writing is so similar and maybe even better than K-On and other KyoAni works.

Turns out the screenplay writer and series composer is the same who basically worked on every good KyoAni show and many other highly energetic comedies. Chobits, Abenobash, Ichigo Mashimaro, Kantai Collection, Love Live, Nanatsu no Taizai, Rozen Maiden and even Wakaba Girl. That's some legendary stuff right there.

-= A Place Further Than The Abyss =-

1 - Two primary characters, both children.  One ditzy and light, the other more serious and dark.

B - The initial tone is humorous.

2 - The two decide to venture to a land that is harsh and unforgiving in search of one's mother, despite the fact that she is most likely dead.

3 - The third member of the group is both cute and oddly mature.

4 - Those who have been to the region in question before are strong and somewhat scary.

5 - Tragedy and despair?
