I feel like Trigger is at their best when they're just making jokes and not at all trying to be serious, like with Luluco and Kill la Kill. When they try to branch out, like with When Supernatural Battles Become Commonplace (ridiculously misleading title) and Kiznaiver, it almost is never anything good. They just need to embrace that their strongsuit is ridiculous.

That's definitely true. The comic suspension of disbelief was one of my biggest draws into KLK, and yet Kiznaiver doesn't really have much of that, if anything.

I still want to see it how it ends, but I'm kinda of pessimistic that I'll feel satisfied with it. Even if the narrative finds a way to end well, I feel like the majority of the cast barely did anything. It was mostly the main two and glasses girl. That really annoys me, since the initial draw for me was having an interesting ensemble cast.

We'll see I guess.

I'm tearing up..... I'm actually tearing up...  Episode 24 of assclass s2 just won it anime of the year and a 10/10 from me. I'm heartless, I pride myself on not crying and.... I broke. I didn't break for Clannad... but this broke me.

Seeing them cry as they killed their teacher.. The voice actor for nagisa with that last scream after he did the deed, it was.... heart breaking. I still have tears in my eyes as I type this..

If you have not watched assclass do yourselves a favour and watch this series from start to finish...

Just watched it.

I'm dead.

You need to stop thinking in Studios and more in directors. The good stuff is always made by Imaishi, but he can't just direct every single anime by Trigger. He's no Shinbo.

That episode. God damn it that episode. It will be nice to have episode 25 to wrap everything up, but that was a seriously powerful penultimate episode.

I want to finish everything before doing my season breakdown and yeah LWA is coming back. Hype!

It finally happened, god fucking bless you Trigger, I've waited so long for this to become a reality.

Another anime that exists thanks to Kill La Kill. Making KLK not only the best anime of all time but the super best anime ever.

You...

You have good taste my friend.

Assassination Classroom is the best full length anime this season, even if it technically started in Winter, and even more technically was season two. It really did a great job putting the finishing touches on character relationships and backstories with good reveals and meaningful action sequences. Unless the final episode somehow screws everything up, this is going to go down as a quality show worth watching.

Admittedly, season one is a tiny bit slow while the students are unskilled in more ways than one and backstories are still a mystery as the roster is slowly fleshed out, but it's still good and appropriately lighthearted. Season two is what makes it all worth watching though. Highly recommended.

Uchuu Patrol Luluco is the best short this season.

Luluco, for how ridiculous it was throughout, capitalizing on memes and references, had a kind of touching ending. "Miss Trigger" is a fun character, and with that name, she is basically the Trigger mascot now. The hand off after the credits for Little Witch Academia was also a nice touch. Kiznaiver is pretty bland, but Trigger still managed to turn out a gem this season with Luluco.

Also, I'm a little curious what the most disappointing anime of the season was for everyone. Not the worst you watched, but the one that you either had expectations for that weren't met, or the show just let you down halfway through the season and never really recovered.

For me, Boku no Hero Academia was by far the most disappointing. Stupid things were hyping it as the next great, action shounen anime. Action as good as the best of them, a story that wouldn't suck. I had forgotten how good the hype machine is at lying. To be blunt, Academia sucks.

The bulk of the show is spent on one of the most stereotypical, whiny protagonists a show has seen in some time and his relationship with his bully lover Kacchan. There are too many characters for the show to adequately focus on in 12 episodes, and because of that, the entire show felt way too unfocused. It was all over the place trying to introduce characters, explain powers, and give some action time to everybody. I get they wanted to build the cast, but when you only have 12 episodes, maybe some sacrifices should be made to create a focused story.

Literally the only good part has been the last couple of episodes, and even then, they've been so stereotypical for the genre, I have a hard time thinking they made the show standout in any noteworthy way. "If 100% isn't enough, I'll just go OVER 100% HUE HUE HUE"

Being overhyped and then not even that good as an average anime made Boku no Hero Academia a serious disappointment for me.
