Aren't you the guy who defines shounen as 'only what I like' rather than what it actually is though?

Does anyone take him seriously in this thread ?

Do you really think that english in Japan is mostly taught by foreigners?

I dunno. But I'd assume professional English teachers (even if they are still Japanese) have way better pronunciation than most/all anime English teachers.

Oh and it's especially annoying when they try and portray them as 'authentic' when clearly they're not. Was watching Ass Class and the authentic 'English' (and by that I mean eastern European) teacher was complaining that the Japanese kids couldn't pronounce 'bui' properly. Could have at least got someone that could actually pronounce V if they were going to have that in there...

Yes they usually are more proficient to speak it but that's why they're specialists. You can't just have an english specialist who is also great at voice acting. It's a unique thing to Japan because their language is so extremely different from european languages. They have a much harder time with the pronunciation because a lot of the sounds we use just don't exist in their language while all of their sounds exist in ours. So give them some slack.

I don't think they want us to believe they're authentic. They're just doing the best they can. But I'm pretty sure that they're aware how weird it sounds. Then again they don't give a shit about these things because animes are not made for western audiences.

Best video game based on an anime? Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 or Jump Ultimate Stars. I did also like Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2.

All of the three are fighting games, but I guess those are where anime tends to shine in game form.

Oh, as for the second topic, nothing. I have yet to be satisfied seeing video games turned into anime since video games have so far always done stories meant for them better. Nothing comes to mind that might benefit from being parsed down into a 12 episode anime story.

Well I could understand giving them some slack when the character is still Japanese. But when they quite clearly portray the character as a foreigner they should at least be able to speak that character's native language properly. I mean, western producers don't often cast a white guy as an Indian or something like that. They actually cast an Indian to play the Indian. Don't see why Japan can't at least try to do the same.

Why would they have to do that? If there was demand for it they would do it but there isn't. You are not the target audience so you will not have a say in how they will portray their story. Their target audience doesn't give a shit.

They also portray all the characters who are supposedly Japanese with big breasts and pink hair. That doesn't seem really authentic.

It is a little odd, considering there are foreign actors in Japan for movies and dramas.  There are even talent agencies that specialize in providing foreign actors and extras.  Plenty of half-Japanese actors, too.  The talent is certainly there.

My guess would be that there isn't much work beyond bit roles for non-Japanese so most of the time someone will play double-duty in terms of extras.  Instead of paying someone to come in and do a few lines, they just use a regular voice actor that's probably in the building already.  Bystander C will also play English Person A, for example.  Anime cuts costs as much as possible.

I mean, this drama is airing right now:

Our House (Japanese Drama)

Well there is demand (me) and assuming that their target audience would be the super fans who buy loads of merchandise/dvds etc then it's possible (well not really, but they don't know that) that I could become their target audience.

Write an angry letter then. If they change something you are the target audience. If not, then deal with the fact that people put different priorities on different things.

Easy topic for me :P I'm always thinking about this.

Favorite games based of anime would be Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Jojo All Star Battle.

Video game series I would like to see as an anime would be final fantasy, kingdom hearts, metal gear solid, Disgaea, Zero Escape, Nier, Resident Evil, Ni no kuni, Legend of Zelda,  Legend of Dragoon, Dark Cloud, Fatal Frame, etc.

Some of them could work well I think, but I'm not too hopeful to expect a miracle :P

Favorite anime based in a game dragon ball z budokai series, sagas, inuyasha and street fighter.

I always wanted to see king of fighters anime series there's an ova but I want a series.

The legend of zelda has so much potential as an anime.

Xbox live: kyokusanagiii    Watching: Patlabor The Mobile Police (OAV 1)

Let's all take a moment to think about how awesome a Borderlands anime could be.

What the.....what is this?

It's a short film that Borderlands was either inspired by or ripped off, depending on how you look at it.
