From 2004?  I'll go with School Rumble.  One of the funniest anime ever made.

I recommend Samurai Champloo. The story, characters, action and music are all top tier. I believe it's still on Netflix for anybody interested and the dub is actually pretty sweet.

I wish i can recommend an anime but since you said new, don't know anything about new ones.

cheking on Ajin

Genres: Action, Horror, Mystery, Seinen, Supernatural

Ajin is a supernatural anime full of complex ideas about life and death, as well as the dark side of human nature.

Even though I prefer the manga, I'd have to pick Bleach as my favorite 2004 anime.

It was pretty popular at its peak, so I imagine most people here have heard of it...but for those who haven't, it's basically about a high-school boy that can see, and eventually learns to exorcise, wandering spirits. It's largely a battle manga that follows several shonen tropes, but even so, the fights themselves were usually fun to watch. The main cast is pretty great, with the humans and shinigami having several extremely interesting characters, but it was the eventual introduction of the Arrancar characters that stole the show for me. Despite being antagonists, I found myself wanting to know more about every one of them, and even found myself rooting for a few. Overall, I'd say my personal favorites (of the whole cast) are Ishida, Orihime, Kenpachi, Grimmjow, and Ulquiorra.

On the downside though, Bleach has to be one of the anime with the most absolutely massive difference in quality between canon and filler episodes. This is definitely a complaint shared with most long running shonen adaptations...but holy crap the filler episodes are terrible. Everything feels so forced, and there are even times when it flat out contradicts what the canon material has established. Even though I recommend the series, I'd have to recommend finding a canon/filler guide to go along with it...just to avoid the dreck that drags the rest of the series down.

Back to a more positive note, the OST is absolutely incredible...and I still find myself listening to it on the way to work every now and then.

This is one of the animes i can't wait to watch but since   Oct 5, 2004 to Mar 27, 2012 its been 4 years since it ended but I'm worried if they continue the anime down the line. I'm going to be pissed. so I'm going to stay in safe mode and just wait.

Out of curiousity, did you wait for the Final Act before watching Inuyasha? Just curious, since I know you're a fan of that, and it's likely going to be the same scenario with Bleach.

The manga has been "ending" for like three years now...so assuming the anime starts its Final Act within a year of it ending, the anime probably won't end till 2019...if I had to guess. I assume the anime will come back at some point...since even though the manga has been ranking terribly, it still does well in volume sales, so there's an obvious target for it.

Honestly, you could probably watch up to episode 310, since that concludes the larger story arc of the series. The plot continues...but I personally don't think the series has really benefited from being extended as it has. Just my opinion though.
