Your comments tell me that you haven't even tried to step out of your comfort zone.

If that's your take-away, then I think you're misintrepreting my comments. I'm aware that there is plenty of high quality anime out there that I'm dismissing with my criteria...but I'm certainly not dismissing them permenantly. I've even said earlier in this thread that I'm open to watching more when the season is over, and it's not like I'm ignoring people's opinions. I simply look over the list and see what looks interesting to me, do a quick check, and watch more as I go along. I really don't have a comfort zone; there are plenty of genres I don't care for, but I'm willing to give anything a shot at some point. Heck, I don't really like the harem genre in general, but one of my top three current manga falls under that description. XD

Either way, I think we're gonna have to agree to disagree. To me, judging an anime by a single episode makes far less sense than looking over source material, studio, and fan opinions. But to each their own of course.

Nanoha is the only magical girl I need. The white devil with her insane range and OP pink beams of death is just.... wonderful.

Psh, magical girl is fine. Not so long ago, I was watching Fate/Kaleid and Cardcaptor Sakura. I feel like I watched other ones within the past six months too, but I don't maintain a list of what I've watched anywhere, so, ya know, whatever.

You should use Myanimelist for that. Most of us in here use it.

Oh, I know. I somewhat regularly visit MAL. I'm just really, really, really lazy. I can pretty much just look at a list on any old anime streaming site and know what I've watched anyways, so I don't absolutely need a list elsewhere to keep track.

Usually when I try to explore other types of anime I get burned on them ...

I can't do slice of life, mecha, episodic, magical girls, or based around music a lot of times ...

A rundown and knowing what genre it's in is enough on my end. Knowing the author of the original source is just a bonus to me unless the adaption is non-canon ...

Nothing inherently wrong with magical girl anime. The problem, as with every other genre that saw a significant rise in popularity, is that for awhile every studio was trying to get in on the act. For awhile, it seemed like every other anime was about magical girls. I remember watching Tonde Burin, where the girl turned into a magical pig. Stereotypes and cliches developed and proliferated.

One of my first favorite anime was Hime-Chan's Ribbon. It was a magical girl anime about a girl who was unhappy with herself because everyone thought of her as a tomboy. She ended up with a magical ribbon that let her transform her appearance into someone else and a stuffed lion as her guide. It wasn't about fighting super-villains or any of that but instead about her character learning about life from the perspective of other people. Her powers were very limited and had major consequences if used wrong. It was really good and I had all 61 episodes on VHS. I honestly wish there were more anime like that.

By the way, Pokota is the lion and my namesake.

Ugh. I've been too busy to watch any anime. I'm just letting the episodes build up on the new anime before I watch any.

Boobs against the back and we're only on episode two. Calvary is just going for it.

Magical girls are love.
Madoka.. I remember the clash that happened. People not into the genre started watching thinking they wouldn't like it and drop it. But got hooked fairly quickly. Me, who liked the genre, did not get into it at first and almost dropped it (thank God I didn't!) around eps 3/4. 5 threw the line and 6 sold me. Expectations can be such a wild card, at the time of the first eps I just didn't see the point in a magical girl show like that, it seemed a bastardisation of the genre just for attention or for acceptance by non-fans. Like, you know, if someone were to take Yuru Yuri and stone it with drama due to Kyoko dying (whyyyy???). Good thing I was wrong.
"Only" took 13 years for something to finally dethrone Lain show-wise.

And yeah Evil versus, Kancolle was surprisingly very good. One of the best of this year even

Raku Dos: Well that escalated quickly. I like my tsundere ships...but I like development even more. Gonna keep watching for now, but if this keeps up I might be switching my anime time to right before bed.

The middle part was nice at least. OTP being OTP.

I like Shizuka's voice. Is that her name? I'm too lazy to look it up.

Shizuku, so close. Also, her VA is Nao Touyama, ya know, Chitoge.
