Absolute Duo really is bad. So far I've endured all of 8-Bit's incredibly boring animes but this one will be dropped immediately. Couldn't even do the first ep without trying to skip to interesting parts.

I couldn't stand ANY of 8-Bit's works ...

Why they continue to adapt crappy material is beyond me ... 

I think the material is only half of the problem. The awful boring writing and direction paired with sub par animation quality does the rest.

I've seen good animes based on crappy material.

The awful writing and direction probably comes from the fact that they've no other option than to straight up clone the material to another format unless the said material didn't initially have a plot or a lot of lore either. You have a point about animation quality but it is often times more than satisfactory so in the end it's the original source that largely becomes a dominating factor to an anime's quality. 

As for the second line that was almost never case for me ...

Gigantic props to Kadokawa. They actually made something really good out of Kantai collection. Absolutely competent execution and in parts actually quite epic presentation. Looks very good despite the heavy CG.
So far it lacks a bit of substance but it's really fun to watch.

Hey, now, Encouragement of Climb was fun. That's ... about it from 8-bit, though.

Shinmai Maou no Testament was unimpressive. Bleh, probably.

Junketsu no Maria, though! Maria! ARTEMIS! I watched that de-owl-ification scene five times! I was right to name this my most anticipated anime. It was like a sexy Ghibli anime. Artemis is hilarious.
